บท 13: Chapter Pov Vailein

Half a week after Meditite is born I have to go to school again and I pick up my previous daily routine. In the evening I practice aura first and this time I finally build a stable aura flame in my dantien, this will help me purify my aura and compress it. I'm so exited that I lose control and spend to much psychic energy. Meditite takes in most of it as food and I knock myself out. The next morning I wake up with a splitting headache and remember I have to go to school. Lucky for me Meditite notices my problem and sends a bit of psychic energy to me, alleviating the worst of the pain. This day passed as a blur.

The year at school passes quickly and uneventfully. The most exciting part I guess would be strength advancements for Houndour and Pidgeotto, now both mid level elite. Meditite is still just a baby but started using psychic energy to also take part in the chess games. Most of our evenings are spent enhancing our stamina, if the other trainers were not on time to rescue us from the bus we would get too tired to continue. So we decided we need a lot more stamina in case something like that happens again.

During our summer break we get a notice that our city cannot join the training camp because the city is surrounded by a Pokemon riot of A grade. This means that there is at least 1 king level Pokemon leading this riot. A request for assistance is already sent to the Megatropolis and all people in the city are to report to the nearest military post asap. Nervously we join the line for a quick health check and check on Pokemon strength. Both me and my dad, who borrows mom's Pokemon, pass for a squad leader, my mom however is not allowed to participate in the defense, apparently she's pregnant for about 2.5 months. This news causes joy to me and my father. It also is extra motivation to get out in one piece. A squad leader in the army is commanding 10 other people in battle.

2 days later the area outside the walls had become riddled with pitfalls and other lethal traps. From each wall there are 1000 large caliber Gatling guns prepared. On each wall people and Pokemon are stationed. All kind of military grade weapons are provided. Most chose something along the lines of a shield, a gun and a small sword. My choice is 2 katana of 70cm each, two desert eagle pistols, then several grenades and a large caliber sniper. Me Houndour and Pidgeotto are on top of the walls commanding a small squad of 10 people. My Meditite is at home guarding over my mom.

At 4.29 pm we see a literal sea of Pokemon show up out of the forest. I command my squad to take as much rest as they can cause we will need all the energy we can get during our battle. Each of us eats some tasteless energy bars and puts our back to the wall with our eyes closed.

At 9.24 pm we hear a roar signaling the start of the battle. All members of my squad quickly pull themselves up and draw sniper rifles to the wall, we point it towards the 500m area from the wall. The first thing we hear is all the Pokemon that call their own name. When the Pokemon reach 500m ¼ of the Gatling guns start firing, 45 second later another ¼ joins, another 45 seconds later another ¼ joins and another 45 seconds after all Gatling guns are firing for 1 second. Then the first set of guns have run out of ammo, quickly they are reloaded or replaced, I don't know. Then 45 seconds later it joins back in the constant firing. Even with all this the Pokemon tide is coming closer and closer. When the wave of Pokemon reaches 400m from the wall I command my team to try and take out the stronger looking Pokemon in the 500-600m range. At 50m from the wall some Pokemon can use long range attacks to attack. Once the Pokemon reach the wall, the Gatling guns pull back but keep on firing as much as possible. During the wall climb of the Pokemon, everyone with a gun joins in on firing at the incoming Pokemon, and all trained Pokemon with any type of long ranged attack starts using that to slow down the assault as well. The Gatling Guns are effective on below Elite level Pokemon, our snipers can handle up to Elite Pokemon, handguns are only lethal to Baby and low level rookie Pokemon. They have improved a lot from 100 years ago where even a sniper could only wound an advanced Pokemon.

At 10.04 pm the Pokemon reach the top of the wall, barely half an hour into the fight. My squads discards their snipers, by dropping them down the wall on our side. We draw our close combat gear just before the first Pokemon reaches the top at our part of the wall. Since Pidgeotto is hovering above me, it sees the Pokemon come on top of the wall first and uses a sharp wind blade, to slice the first wave into pieces. Houndour takes the second wave with a widespread ember attack. The 3rd wave is killed by the blades of us humans. Each of us now focuses solely on the meter of space in front of us together with our Pokemon. Most of the time I use my blades to cut Pokemon from left to right or visa versa. If a Pokemon blocks my blade Pidgeotto takes care of the Pokemon left of the blade and Houndour the right side of my blade. Since we did the whole year mostly stamina training we can endure this for a long time. The rest of the squad change their Pokemon every hour to give them enough rest. All of my squad members are from the army. They get payed to take care of 6-10 Pokemon depending on their rank. Almost everything is provided to train those Pokemon to battle in a Pokemon raid. They have 2 Pokemon out just like I have and use the same tactic. Their Pokemon fight for a single hour then rest for two more hours. Maybe later that will change.
