Who was the one that assigned you to that role you are enacting as of the moment? It would all come down to 'self', it was all 'self'. 

Selfishness or selflessness. Did it matter which one was the characteristic? The denominator was the satisfaction that could be acquired at that moment. 

'She selfishly ruined her friend's wedding with the man who cheated on her. She was satisfied with her happy ending.'

'She selflessly gave him up to her friend who loved him to death. She was satisfied with their happy ending.'

If that was the case, why should she give someone else permission on how she should act or feel? Why would she have to ask for consent to be what she wanted to be? The happiness and sadness were the results of 'her' decision. The role that she claimed was her own dictation.
