บท 11: Mutated Dungeon
Nathen went silent for a second then said."No, it's okay."
"I actually didn't mind what you said." He actually didn't mind, as he had already gotten his reward.
"Really?" Rose asked with doubt in her voice. She didn't expect him to not mind her at all.
"Yes. Instead, I should thank you. If not for you, I wouldn't have been able to join a company." Nathen spoke with a genuine voice, as he wouldn't be able to complete his mission if he was not able to join the weakest company.
Rose blushed after hearing what he said. "No, I should thank you for joining mine."
"Hehe," Nathen chuckled to himself. "I didn't expect the daughter of a CEO to be like this. Humble but not giving cold shoulders every time."
Rose raised her eyebrows and pouted. "I am not like those guys. I hate showing disdain to any random person except the person I hate."
"Oh," Nathen seemed to get something after hearing that. "Miss Rose, you might not survive in that environment being like this."
"I know, but I hate being like that," Rose said with her head down.
"Don't worry. You don't have to change; just adapt. Also, I like the way you are. Short tempered but soft in heart." Nathen blurted it out without thought.
Rose's face flushed like a red tomato, She came beside him and started punching his shoulder. "Take that back! I am not short-tempered."
"Okay, Okay. You are not short-tempered." Nathen said as he leaned back while he rubbed his shoulder to let her know it hurt.
"Hmph, Also, don't think you can woo me with that alone. You have to try hard." Rose scoffed at him.
"Huh?" Nathen got extremely confused. "Who is wooing who? You are being delusional."
"Yeah, pretend." Rose turned her head and rested her back on her tree.
After she sat down, she asked him. "Who trained you? You have pretty good combat skills."
"No one. I did it myself." Nathen answered without pause, as he had already prepared this answer. "I wasn't able to cultivate like you all. Still, I didn't give up. I trained my body and mind. Suddenly, one day, I was able to cultivate. After some thought, I decided to be a hunter."
"Oh, is that weapon your awakened ability? If it is, then it is quite something." She said this with great enthusiasm as she witnessed a weapon-like ability for the first time.
Nathen went and pondered to himself. 'It might be a good excuse. With so many planets there has to be someone who awakened weapon-like ability.'
He retracted his weapon back to his heart."Yes, this is my ability."
"It is so cool!" Rose had stars in her eyes.
Nathen was a bit shocked as it seemed he had found another thing about Rose, her love for finding and discovering abilities.
"Cough, Do you want to touch it?" Nathen had to say this as she was giving him an intense look.
Rose nodded her head like a chicken pecking at rice.
He took out his weapon and handed it to her.
She quickly snatched it from his hand and started inspecting every nook and cranny.
"Hmm, It is very lite. It is also very sharp, very good for penetrating anything…"
Seeing her mumbling to herself, Nathen couldn't help but get amused.
He asked with a smile. "Why don't you introduce yourself again, but only as a teammate?"
Rose stopped herself and then agreed with Nathen's suggestion.
"I am Rose Grandior, Rank-5 Elementary Battle Warrior. My ability is FireMage. I can cast spells that are related to fire."
Nathen nodded as he pondered. 'Why is it called ability? Isn't this supposed to be called a class or profession? Whatever, why would I care.'
He then gave his introduction.
"I am Nathen Bornheart, Rank-2 Elementary Battle Warrior. My ability is Weapon Summoner, I guess. I am very good at close combat. Take care of my back, captain."
"Good, good, As your captain, I won't let anything happen to you." Rose puffed up her chest and spoke confidentially.
"So, captain. What should we do now? Should we do a kamikaze attack like you or do a sneak attack?" Nathen asked.
"Uhh," Rose got stumped for a second, then said. "We will do a sneak attack. We don't know the main boss of this dungeon."
Nathen raised his eyebrow. "But, Miss Rose. Wasn't this supposed to be a common, basic dungeon? Then anything related to this dungeon should already be known."
"The thing is, the goblin general we fought earlier was supposed to be the boss of this dungeon. But I think the dungeon mutated, and it spawned a more powerful boss." Rose scratched her cheek.
"Is the mutant thing common?" Nathen asked eagerly. He wanted to know if only the system could do something like that or if it could happen from time to time.
"Yes and no. The mutated dungeon is hard to clear. Most people die clearing it. And without clearing a dungeon, you can't get out. So, if a dungeon is mutated, then it already announces your death." Rose explained it to him calmly.
"For this reason, any information about these types of dungeons is scarce. This newbie dungeon is already hard for many people and getting mutated is…" Rose gave a depressed sigh at the end of that.
Nathen stood up and spoke without any fear. "Captain, we will clear this dungeon. Do you believe in me?"
Rose froze upon hearing that and tossed her depression away. She smiled bravely. "Hmph. You should believe in me. I learned a new skill from that goblin general."
"Huh!?" Nathen halted his footstep and asked. "What did you say? You can get rewards other than experience?"
"Yes. You didn't know that? Oh, you are new; I forgot." Rose said with acknowledgment."Mutated Dungeon drops better and more rewards than normal dungeons. So, it was inevitable that I would get it."
"Is it true?" Nathen asked with his eyes widened.
"Yes," Rose nodded her head.
Nathen covered his face with his hands and said with depression. "Then why didn't I get any reward!?"
