บท 2: Chapter 2 : Ourin

The scent of damp earth and aged timber lingered in the air, mingling with the distant cries of birds hidden within the thick canopy above.

Outside the group of young men and women who were chatting happily, a young man sat on a rough-hewn wooden log, his fingers absently turning a piece of dry bread in his hands. His face bore a serene expression, though his mind was anything but calm.

Then, a sharp, mechanical intonation rang through his consciousness.

[Beep! A.I. Chip activated, binding with the host... 1%... 9%... 15%... 35%... 58%... 79%... 99%... 100%. Scanning for any errors...]

A surge of anticipation coursed through his veins. His knuckles whitened as he clenched his fists, nails digging into his palm to suppress the elation threatening to break free.

[Beep! No errors found.]

'Hahahaha… Yes!' Kevin—or rather, Leylin Farlier—laughed inwardly, his joy carefully concealed beneath an impassive mask. The A.I. Chip had awakened, the very same miraculous construct that had once belonged to Fang Ming in his previous world.

This was a gift beyond measure, a tool that had allowed the original Warlock of the Magus World to rise to unparalleled heights.

'Now at least I don't have to worry about immediate survival,' he thought, maintaining his outward composure. 'I guess I really am Leylin now.'

He inhaled slowly, steadying his thoughts before issuing his first command.

'A.I. Chip, show me a body scan.'

[Beep! Scan complete!] [Kevin Reed (Leylin Farlier). Strength: 0.4, Agility: 0.5, Vitality: 0.4, Status: Slightly injured]

'Nothing surprising… but why do I have an A.I. Chip?' he pondered. The original Fang Ming had possessed one because it was a creation of scientists from his futuristic world, bound to his soul during his death. Yet here it was, seamlessly integrated into his consciousness despite the completely different nature of this reincarnation.

He shook his head. The how didn't matter—only the advantages it granted him did.

'I can't complain. This will make my life here infinitely easier.'

Brushing the last crumbs from his meal off his lap, he pushed himself up and returned to the carriage, seeking solitude. As he settled into a quiet corner, he issued his next command.

'A.I. Chip! Scan all of Leylin's memories and organize them. Extract and optimize all Knight training methods!'

[Beep! Task established. Starting memory arrangement. Optimization initiating… Estimated time: 125 minutes.]

A sense of satisfaction welled up within him. Knights—the lowest tier of combatants in this world—were warriors who refined their bodies through grueling training and mastered life energy to push their physical limits. They were insignificant compared to Magi, but for now, it was a stepping stone he couldn't afford to ignore.

Even though the original Leylin had lost much of his training due to neglect, the A.I. Chip would restore and enhance it far beyond its original efficiency.

Cross Blade Basic Sword Style:

Horizontal Slash, Vertical Slash, Piercing Attack, Slanted Slash…

Footwork: Advance, Retreat, Dodge…

Alongside these combat techniques, the breathing method crucial to Knight training appeared vividly in his mind. He recalled the image of Viscount John—his supposed father—demonstrating the art, mist exhaling from his lips as he cleaved a millstone-sized rock with a single swing of his sword.

Leylin smirked. 'I'll begin training as soon as the optimization is complete. Until then, I should rest.'

He closed his eyes, sinking into a light meditative state.

---

Some time later, the door of the carriage burst open with a loud bang.

Leylin's awakens with a snap, and the first thing he registered was the scent of roses—a sweet, intoxicating fragrance that stirred distant memories.

A soft voice, laced with hesitation, called out to him.

"Ley… Leylin! Are you alright?"

His eyes fluttered open, revealing a young woman standing in the doorway. Bessita.

Her delicate features were framed by soft waves of auburn hair, her fair skin glowing beneath the dim light filtering through the carriage. Dressed in a tight-fitting red garment that emphasized her voluptuous curves, she radiated a charm that had once enthralled the original Leylin.

To Kevin, however, she was nothing but a nuisance.

'So this is the girl that got the previous host beaten to death.'

Suppressing a sigh, he dragged a hand across his forehead, feigning exhaustion. "Is there something you want?"

Bessita hesitated, then pulled out a small glass bottle and extended it toward him.

"This… this is medicine for injuries. If you apply it, it'll help you! I'm… sorry."

Leylin's eyes flickered with amusement. 'Ah, the infamous prank.'

He recognized the liquid inside immediately—an itching solution. A petty trick meant to humiliate him further. Without a word, he accepted the bottle and casually flung it out of the carriage window.

Bessita gasped.

"I'm going to sleep," he stated flatly, turning away.

She opened her mouth as if to protest, but no words came. After an awkward silence, she retreated.

The door shut behind her, leaving Leylin in peace once more.

---

[The optimization for the breathing technique has been completed.]

The A.I. Chip's voice rang in his mind, precise and unwavering.

[Time taken foe breathing techniques: 5 minutes 23 seconds. Effects increased by 5%. Side effects of injuries neutralized.]

'Perfect.'

"A.I. Chip, transfer the optimized technique to my memory."

A wave of information surged through his mind, seamlessly embedding itself into his consciousness.

"I guess I'll begin."

Leylin took a deep breath, following the detailed instructions with meticulous precision. His body grew tense, his temples throbbing as his breath deepened.

Then—Phew!

A stream of blackened breath exhaled from his mouth, carrying out minute impurities from his body. Deep within, something shifted. His muscles felt denser, his blood circulation more robust.

Flexing his fingers, he smiled. "Not bad."

---

Over the following days, Leylin immersed himself in rigorous training. His refined Knight breathing techniques, now optimized beyond their original potential, allowed him to push his limits faster than any ordinary acolyte. He also ventured into the wilderness, testing various wild flora with the A.I. Chip for medicinal properties, ensuring he had an edge in survival.

He kept to himself, avoiding conflicts… except for one.

'I would have wanted to not get into any mess, but I need to take magic crystals from Ourin.' Just after Leylin had plucked some fruit he found useful for Knights and placed it into his pocket, he saw a few dots appearing in his vicinity. A. I. Chip has an ability to scan the area around him also warm him about any dangers.

'Finally here.' Leylin today knowingly went a bit far from the carriage.

After a long travel throughout the day, every evening their carriage would stop for all nobleborn to stretch out, get some air, freshen up and for the knights to prepare the food.

Leylin usually only lingers around the camp to make sure he isn't targeted but today he wanted to attract trouble.

'We would be reaching Great Plains of Death in a few days, George has yet to invite me in his group I need to beat Ourin so that he takes notice of my power and invite me.' Leylin thought, just then an annoying voice was heard. "Hehe! What's this I see? Leylin! Should I be saying 'as expected from a minor noble of the village'? Are you actually eating wild fruits on the roadside? You have really tarnished the reputation of the nobilities...

'You would die in the hands of direwolves anyways, much better give me some magic crystals.' Leylin raised his head and saw the murderer who had killed the previous host of this body.

Ourin had fiery red coloured hair, and there were ripped muscles all over his body. His arms were as thick as Leylin's thighs. He currently had his arms crossed in front of his chest as he smiled mockingly at Leylin, behind him was a group of nobles.

Honestly Leylin isn't very greedy for Ourin magic crystals, if he had some he would have not engaged with him, rather finding another way to join George group but unfortunately, Leylin don't have a single magic crystals.

He has a broken magic ring to pay for tution fees then he would be broke, and thats not good.

'Without magic crystals I can't pay to look at the catalogue of professors in the academy, meaning I would be randomly assigned and that's a big no. With A. I. Chip I can match or even surpass geniuses in many fields of alchemy, I need to take a professor in that field to be favoured.'

"Is there a problem?" Leylin asked his voice calm.

"You..." Leylin's reaction had obviously exceeded Ourin's expectations. He actually had no fury or fear, and that made him speechless.

'Should I break his arm or legs? Hmm legs isn't a good option if he can't walk and the black robed knights blame me for it, I can't have that. I guess hands it is, so unfortunate getting your hands broken for just a few magic crystals.' Leylin shook his head not even bothering to hear whatever Ourin has to say, Ourin is after his magic crystals same as Leylin is after his.

Magic crystals were a kind of currency between Magi. They were items of necessity for acolytes with no credentials to enter the academy.

They are very valuable among normal humans, Vscount John had tried several methods to obtain magic crystals. However, he was unable to get even one. From this, one could see just how precious magic crystals were.

But Kevin knows that with his talent powered by A. I. chip, earning magic crystals is very easy, not to mention many magic families would jump over each other to fund him. Fang Ming didn't want to be associated with any family because he couldn't be sure of their intention, but Kevin knows that as long as he choose an ancient acolyte family to fund him, they would be under his thumb. Because with a Magus professor backing him, acolyte dare not offend him even if he frauds them.

"You dare ignore me, you vermin! No one will come to save you..." Ourin shouted, anger evident on his face.

Leylin didn't say anything, his silhouette flashed. When Leylin reappeared, he was already behind Ourin, "Lets see who exactly needs saving!"
