บท 29: Mr.Flynn's son

-In the evening-

"Kevin, can you drop Daisy?" Mr. Harry asked.

Before Kevin could reply, Daisy said, "But Mr. Harry, you said you were going to drop me."

"Daisy, I have something to do," Mr. Harry explained.

"Can I help you with it?" Kevin volunteered.

"Yes, Mr. Harry, we can help you," Daisy added.

"This is not something I need your help with. You guys can go home and rest. Don't worry, it's just a small task." Mr. Harry turned to Kevin and said, "Please drop her."

Kevin nodded, and Mr. Harry walked away, leaving them alone.

Kevin was sure that Mr. Harry was hiding something. He was curious about what Mr. Harry was keeping from him. He wished he could follow him and find out, but Mr. Harry had helped him a lot in the past, so he thought it wasn't the right thing to do.

Mr. Harry did promise him that he would reveal everything when the time was right.

Kevin and Daisy got into the car, and Kevin started to drive. There was silence in the car.

Daisy started to think about what Mr. Harry had said to her in the afternoon.

-Flashback-

Daisy was sitting in the cabin, arranging the files. Mr. Harry walked towards her.

"Daisy, I wanted to talk to you about something," he said.

"Is there something I can help you with, Mr. Harry?" Daisy asked.

"No, I don't need help with anything," Mr. Harry said, looking around. "But please don't tell Kevin anything about Mr. Flynn's son."

"Mr. Harry, I never met Mr. Flynn's son. I don't know anything about him." Daisy said, not understanding what Mr. Harry was saying.

She had never met Mr. Flynn's son, so what could she say about him?

"No. Just never let Kevin know Mr. Flynn had a son," Mr. Harry said.

Daisy was confused but promised Mr. Harry that she wouldn't say anything about Mr. Flynn's son.

-Flashback ends-

She didn't know why Mr. Harry didn't want Kevin to know about Mr. Flynn's son. She had never met him either. But she didn't know where Mr. Flynn's son was right now. Why was he silent and let some random stranger take over the business?

"Daisy, do you know anything about Mr. Flynn's son?" Kevin questioned.

Daisy was shocked when Kevin asked her about Mr. Flynn's son. She remembered Mr. Harry's words.

"No, I don't. I don't know anything about Mr. Flynn's family. Because you took over Mr. Flynn's business, I thought you were his son," Daisy said. She looked calm outside, but she hoped Kevin believed her words.

"Oh, okay," Kevin replied.

Kevin sighed and continued to drive.

"So, you are the eldest daughter of the Gilbert family, right? But the address you live in— I mean, I never thought the rich lived here," Kevin said.

"No, actually. It was where Mr. Harry temporarily arranged for me to stay," Daisy replied.

"Huh? So, but your father?" Kevin asked. When they first met, from Daisy's words, he understood that her father was quite strict.

Daisy thought for a while. She decided to trust Kevin because Mr. Harry said that he believed in him. She knew she wasn't good at judging people but trusted Mr. Harry's judgment.

"Well, after that night we met, I found out the real reason for my grandfather's death. I found out that my father got him killed," Daisy said in a low voice.

Kevin was shocked. "What?"

"Yeah. My grandfather was a very kind soul; he didn't want his son to do illegal businesses, but my father didn't want to listen to him. So, he just got rid of him," Daisy replied, now with tears in her eyes.

Kevin didn't know what to say. "I'm so sorry."

They drove in silence for a few minutes.

"I can't do anything. There is no proof that it's my father who did it, and even if there were any proofs, in the first place, he would have destroyed it a long time ago," Daisy continued. "I can't take the help of the police. Instead, they will help cover up everything if my father bribes them."

Kevin agreed with this. The whole system is flawed. He knows very well about this—how the poor are swept under the rug, and throwing some money makes every wrong right.

"So, you want to give up on everything?" Kevin asked.

"No, I don't want to. I want justice for my grandfather's death, but I couldn't do anything," Daisy said. She was angry with herself because she couldn't do anything for her grandfather.

"You don't want justice for yourself?" Kevin asked.

"Me?" Daisy questioned.

"Yes, you also suffered because of your family too, right? Don't you think you also deserve justice? Don't you think you deserve an apology for all the pain you received?" Kevin explained.

"But there is nothing I could do," Daisy replied.
