บท 25: Honeymoon?

As the whole city was abuzz with blogs, newspapers, financial times, netizens and the likes, all having a say in the family drama that had ensued, one apartment remained oblivious to this. It was not that they would care, even if they knew about it, for they had more 'important' things to tend to rather than to dwell on what the rest of the world thought of them.

Back at the apartment, Kelvin thought back to the night before, he had stood under the cold shower for a long while before stepping out, 'extra-refreshed'. He returned to their room after this, and remembered as he watched her; His Amanda, while she slept splayed out on the bed, and a small smile had made its way to his face.

"I can't believe that I got this lucky," he muttered to himself as he reminisced on how he had gotten to this stage of the relationship with her. He finally made his way to the bed and cuddled her. Her even breathing had slowly lulled him to sleep eventually, as well.

He was currently in the kitchen and the wall clock read 6.05 am. He was an early riser and even though he had slept late, this time was even later than his normal rising time. For today, he wanted to make breakfast for his new wife and her family which he now considered his own as well.

He was clad in blue faded jeans that hung dangerously low on his hip, and he had paired that with a tank top. He helped himself to an apron and plugged his ears with an earbud, then started his planned breakfast.

Before he did this, however, he had made several calls and secured an apartment for himself and Amanda as their new home, as he had promised himself and her, the day before. Kelvin was a well-connected man, as he had lived in temporary establishments and on the streets most of his life after his mother, his only living relative had died. He had self-thought himself many things, but he was more than he looked. And Kelvin was now prepared to go all out for his wife.

He muttered to himself, "How could I have been so fortunate, I mean, I just wished that she was mine and now she is." Kelvin turned his attention back to the cooker. When he was done with the food preparation, it was 8.25 am. He returned to 'their room' and stood at the door just watching his wife sleep. She looked so serene that he did want to wake her up. "She must have been that tired yesterday huh?" he again said to himself and approached the bed.

The side dipped a little when he sat on it. He leaned forward and placed a small kiss on her eyelids. He looked on with a smile as she stirred a bit and her eyes fluttered open.

Amanda had had a very restful and dreamless sleep. She stirred slightly when she felt soft and wet lips on her eyes. She initially tried to brush it aside as she wanted to rest more but when the lips kissed her second eye, it all came rushing back to her. She got married the night before, since Tasha and her mum will never wake her up that way, then it should be her new hubby. She grew warm in her heart as she thought of this and opened her eyes to meet him. She smiled at him when her eyes met his grey ones.

"Hello sweetheart," he whispered and placed another kiss, this time on her lips. Her eyes widened and before she could do anything, he nudged her lips open and dived right into them. "I can never get enough of her," Kelvin thought to himself. Then he drew her close to him and continued kissing her. He felt like he was on some sort of drugs as he nibbled and gnawed on her lips.

He paused slightly when he felt some resistance from her. Kelvin knew and had vowed that he would never take advantage of her in any way, so he pulled back with an apologetic face and looked at her breathless and flushed face. But what she said next had him chuckle and relax.

"I have not brushed my teeth this morning and haven't cleaned my face yet!" she whispered in a bewildered way.

"I do not mind nor care about that sweetheart. You taste sweet either way." He said to her and winked.

"Can you go and refresh yourself then, sweetheart?" he asked,

"I have breakfast ready for you, Tasha and your mum, since she said that she will drop by this morning." Kelvin added as he continued gazing at her lovingly.

Amanda nodded and felt him place a small chaste kiss on her lips… and then he was gone.

Amanda fell back on the bed and rolled over across it. She screamed out in excitement and muffled it with the pillow. "Is this how it feels like to be on a honeymoon?" she asked herself out loud and giggled like a little girl.

Following his instructions, she entered the bathroom.

Tasha on the other hand, rolled awake and was greeted with the most amazing aroma anyone could be greeted with in the morning. She felt her stomach growl in response to the smell of breakfast that wafted through her nostrils.

She walked out of the room and was greeted with the most wondrous sight any woman would like to see especially first thing in the morning. The wall clock showed that it was 8.40 am then.

She rubbed the sleep off of her eyes and gazed at Kelvin who had his back to her. "This is my friend's man, but I am only admiring nature," she convinced herself in her mind and said in a whisper, "He is hot!"

She saw the jeans that hugged his body perfectly and the tank top that left his arms bare so that she could see the masculinity in the arms. The apron was too small on his body but made him appear cute. "Those arms do not belong in a kitchen," she mused.

"They will be a better fit for other tasks," she sighed and then reprimanded herself. Then she walked forward and poured herself a cup of coffee.

"Good morning, Kelvin,"

He responded and added, "Breakfast will be just a minute. Help yourself to any."

He was just finishing up with the setting the table. He had a bowl of green salad, grilled sausage and ham, whole wheat bread, some fried eggs, and a jug of freshly squeezed oranges. He also put some washed grapes in a side dish as well.

Her mouth watered as she looked at the variety of food made available.

As Tasha sat down at the table, she asked, "Kelvin, do you have any brothers?"
