บท 32: Chapter 32 ( Trish Pov )

It has been three long years since that unforgettable and agonizing day, a day when I not only lost my parents but also my beloved twin brother. That day marked a profound and irreversible turning point in my life. Now, I find myself at the age of sixteen, haunted by the lingering memories of the traumatic events that unfolded three years ago. It was on that fateful day that I unwittingly activated a power within me, a power that would lead to the loss of everything I held dear.

You might be wondering what transpired, what could have possibly caused such a devastating upheaval in my life. Allow me to narrate the story of that day, to shed light on the series of events that culminated in the loss of everything I cherished. It all began on an ordinary day, a seemingly peaceful day much like any other.

My twin brother, Dante, had always been the daredevil of our duo. He possessed an insatiable appetite for attempting dangerous stunts he had seen on television. I, on the other hand, was perpetually concerned about his well-being and made futile attempts to dissuade him from watching those perilous channels on TV. However, Dante was relentless, and he would often resort to tears, invoking the sympathy of our parents. They would then plead with me to let him indulge in what brought him joy, arguing that he was just a child.

You may be wondering about our ages, as twins are typically the same age. However, the truth is, despite our biological synchrony, I always bore the demeanor and mindset of someone older. At the age of thirteen, my attitudes and thought processes aligned more closely with those of an adult. Some would say I was unusually mature for my age, but the opinions of others mattered little to me. My sole concern revolved around my family's well-being. But I digress; allow me to return to the story of that life-altering day three years ago, a journey laden with trials and tribulations that I had yet to comprehend fully.

On this particular day, I found myself in the kitchen alongside my mother, assisting her in preparing dinner for our family. It was a routine I had grown accustomed to, one that allowed us to bond while nurturing our familial ties. As we worked together, my mother issued a simple request, her voice laced with warmth and affection. "Go and call Dante inside, dear. Dinner will be ready soon."

With a nod and a gentle smile, I responded, "Of course, Mommy," and set aside the plates I had been holding on the dining table before heading outside to fetch my twin brother.

Upon stepping out, I surveyed our surroundings, casting my gaze left and right in front of our door. However, there was no sign of Dante. I ventured forward, standing in the doorway for a few moments, listening intently to the sounds of our quiet neighborhood. It was during this pause that I heard an unusual noise originating from the rooftop. My curiosity piqued, I looked upward, and there, to my astonishment, I spotted Dante perched precariously on the rooftop. The question of how he had ascended to such a height filled my mind.

I called out his name repeatedly, my voice carrying across the distance that separated us. Unfortunately, my cries seemed to fall upon deaf ears, and I reasoned that he simply couldn't hear me from this distance. Left with no other options, I turned my head left and right, scanning for anything I could use to get his attention. Alas, nothing suitable presented itself.

Resigned to my limited choices, I returned my focus to Dante and called his name once more. However, my world suddenly shifted as I witnessed a horrifying sight. Dante was falling from the roof, his body hurtling toward the ground with his head pointed downward. Panic surged within me, and I screamed his name, my voice a desperate plea, "Dante!!!"

In that heart-stopping moment, my chest tightened with fear, my heart pounding so fiercely it felt as though it might burst from my chest. The rhythmic thumping echoed in my ears like the relentless beat of a drum, an ominous drumroll announcing impending disaster.

As I watched Dante's perilous descent, a strange and intense sensation began to build within me. It felt as though my very core was ablaze, a burning energy coursing through my veins. This sensation was unlike anything I had ever experienced in my thirteen years of existence, and it flooded me with a profound sense of power. In that critical moment, it seemed as though I possessed the ability to protect my brother from the impending tragedy, as if my body had become a conduit for this newfound energy.

As this sensation engulfed me, time itself seemed to warp and slow, as if the universe had granted me an eternity in mere seconds.

I closed my eyes, then opened them once more, and a radiant light burst forth. My very being seemed to pulse with newfound energy as my body emitted an ethereal glow. Astonishment coursed through me, but there was no time to dwell on the miraculous transformation I was experiencing. My focus was drawn to a far more urgent matter, the perilous plight of my twin brother, Dante.

Before my eyes, magnificent wings unfurled from both sides of my back, their iridescent feathers gleaming like a surreal masterpiece. It was a sight that defied belief, a manifestation of powers beyond my comprehension. Yet, I instinctively knew that this was no mere accident; it was a gift, a responsibility bestowed upon me by fate itself.

Dante, my other half, was plummeting to what seemed like certain death, hurtling towards the unforgiving abyss below. I couldn't afford the luxury of questioning the origins or limits of these newfound abilities. The urgency of the moment was a pressing weight upon my heart, propelling me into action.

With every fiber of my being, I willed my newfound powers to respond to my desperate plea. I wished with every ounce of my being to rescue my brother, to snatch him from the clutches of the abyss that threatened to claim him. And then, as if the very universe had heard my cry, the impossible transpired before my eyes.
