Merlin did not bother to look at her to answer her question which Cent did not mind—she was too busy observing him up close.

Sighing, Merlin clasped her hand that held Mimi the butterfly with two clammy hands as if he was giving her his heat. But rather than the feeling of warmth, Cent felt the coldness spreading from his hands onto her hand before it went directly to the unmoving butterfly.

It was not an unfamiliar feeling for Crescent The Glutton. Why? Because her magic felt like this. Cold. Chilling. Creepy. These were the telltale signs of a magic that was against the natural circle of life.
