100% Tower of Multiverse / Chapter 2: Ugly Bastard

บท 2: Ugly Bastard

Draco's eyes sprung open and he glanced down at his body, seeing no serious injuries, except, of course, his twisted wrist. The pain was great, but Draco forced himself out of the stupor, instead glancing around at his surroundings.

He saw thousands of people looking down at him, shouting with their mouths wide open. The cheering was so loud that Draco felt his body trembling.

'I am really here...' Draco thought, seeing the beautifully engraved arena.

-

[Welcome to the first stage of the Tower of Multiverse]

[Defeat all your enemies and come out victorious]

[Good Luck!]

-

Numerous translucent, blue screens popped out in Draco's vision, as he reached out towards them, feeling nothing but air. It finally hit him, he was in the tower. He had been gifted an opportunity to become awakened, and he couldn't lose it.

'But... why now?' Draco thought. Getting an invitation from the tower was something only for the chosen, and Draco never considered himself special, especially since both his parents had been mundane humans.

Draco could only guess.

As he felt the cheering grow even louder, he looked around. This was the Colleseum, and it was the only floor in the Tower of Multiverse that never changed. Everybody awakened had been here, survived, or perished. It was like a starting point.

The floors only started to deviate from the first floor onward, and it could be either more difficult or easier compared to others. The tower was a strange place, with probably only the Saints knowing how it worked.

'Even though the place is the same, enemies always differ.' Draco glanced at his broken wrist, frowning. His left hand was completely useless right now, he wasn't in the best condition to fight.

If he remembered correctly, Draco's uncle fought against a giant bear, while his cousin clashed against an undead. Draco didn't know what to expect, so he just tried to mentally prepare for whatever would come out of the gate.

Draco's heart pumped faster than ever, amplified by the cheering of the onlookers. The gate opened with a crushing sound, and Draco took a deep breath in, a bit of sweat running down his temples.

Then, he saw it. A creature that looked neither like a human, but neither like a demon. However, Draco recognized. It was something that had appeared in his dreams hundreds of times. A goblin.

'My dreams showed me a creature from the tower?' Draco thought, scanning through his memories promptly. Goblins weren't known for being the strongest species; on the other hand, they were pretty weak. There was one dream where he saw a single man slaughtering goblins for his entire life, due to some inner hatred.

That man explored all the weaknesses of these creatures, so Draco gained some confidence. Seeing the goblin in front of him grin as it held onto its short sword, Draco decided to be the first one to attack.

Grabbing a few rocks from the ground, Draco began to sprint forward. The goblin did the same without any hesitation, however, a rock landed straight on its face.

The goblin grabbed its face in pain when another rock landed on its forehead, sending it staggering back. While the goblin was trying to stand back up, Draco was already upon it, a bigger rock in his hand.

'Die, you ugly bastard!' Draco shouted, throwing the strongest punch he could muster. However, just when the rock in his hand was about to collide with the goblin's face, he felt intense heat assailing his thighs.

Everything was too sudden, so Draco missed the goblin's face, instead hitting its left shoulder. The goblin shrieked, and the sword fell out of its hands. Angry, the goblin pointed its palm towards Draco, and Draco finally glanced down at his legs, which were covered in flames.

'What is this bullshit? A fucking fire goblin?' Draco cursed, biting his lower lip, trying to ignore the pain. He leaped away immediately, doing a few rolls on the ground as he saw a ball of fire flying past him. It was hot, Draco could barely breathe.

His legs were numb from the fire wounds, while his left hand was practically useless, and he had also found out that his enemy was a freaking mage.

'So what? I am not scared of some fire.' Draco removed all the useless thoughts from his brain, seeing the goblin pick up the sword, fire spreading all over it. Now, he looked both angry and threatening.

The goblin rushed forward, yet his body wasn't that stable, even Draco could see that. It seemed that his shoulder was dislocated, so Draco attacked from the left.

The goblin shifted its body to greet him, once again creating a fireball with its free hand. The goblin send it flying towards Draco, but he managed to duck in time, appearing from below.

Then, a wall of fire formed right before Draco and stopped him from attacking the goblin. A sword emerged from that fire, and Draco managed to react only when he saw the tip of it. The sword passed a few inches away from Draco's ribs, but he didn't let this opportunity slip by.

He grabbed onto the sword with his right hand, overwhelming pain passing through his body. Gritting his teeth, Draco pulled with all of his might, and this fucking goblin appeared from the other side, its body flailing like some feather.

Draco jumped onto the goblin, pushing his two fingers into its eyes. Then, he started punching him in the face. The systemic sound of his fists landing on top of its skull blended into the cheers coming from the crowd.

Draco forgot all the pain, all the suffering, and instead just kept punching. At that moment, seeing this goblin's face getting mushed into the ground, Draco felt a seed of excitement rising from within his chest.

'What am I doing?' Draco sighed, stopping eventually. He rose back to his feet, glancing one last time at this bastard. It had been a tough fight, but not something impossible.

'Why is nothing appearing?' Draco looked around, quite confused.

Usually, a screen would notify the completion of the mission immediately and reward him accordingly. However, it didn't. Draco frowned. There was no absolute way in hell.

A crackling sound resounded in the arena.

The gates opened again.
