Their carriage halted. The butterflies of beautiful excitement in Elvira's stomach converted into stinging bees of horror. Her mouth was dry suddenly. 

"I am to travel on a horse in this dress? My veil would get stuck under the horses' hooves, resulting in a drastic fall. I don't want to ruin my dress and then get trampled all over by a horse on my wedding day. Why does Wivior want to include a horse ride in my entrance? My skirt and veil should have been way shorter for that."

"Wivior?" Cornelius gave her a confused look. "Everard insisted on being part of the ceremony. The horse ride was all his idea."

"Are you sure he doesn't want to kill me?" Elvira gulped.

Cornelius laughed uproariously. "No! However, if he heard your reluctance and fear of death at his hands, it would break his heart."
