บท 49: Chapter 49: A Test to Go Down in History—Total Annihilation

"I write history with my pen!" Zhongli Wu's voice echoed as he uttered the words, and in an instant, a thick, ancient tome appeared before him, radiating a golden light. The book exuded an aura of age and gravitas, but the text on it was indecipherable, hidden beneath its brilliant glow.

Zhongli Wu was one of the judges, a seemingly unremarkable assistant brought by Zhong Jing, who had not spoken a single word throughout the test. Yet now, his actions left everyone around him stunned—Dong Wushuang, Cain, and the others all stared at him in shock, as if seeing him in a new light.

"Zhongli Wu, are you from the Spring and Autumn organization?!" Dong Wushuang's eyes widened as he looked at the scholarly middle-aged man, now surrounded by the floating, ancient book. "Does Zhong Jing know about this?!"

Spring and Autumn was a secretive organization shrouded in mystery. No one knew its full membership, its headquarters, or even when it was founded. Its members could be anyone—high-ranking officials in superhuman organizations, students, or even lone wanderers. Most of the time, the organization's presence was undetectable. But whenever something significant happened—something worthy of being recorded in history—one of them would always be there to document the event.

The organization had a saying:

"History is written by the victors, a malleable narrative with little credibility. But there is always some truth that must be recorded."

However, even when members of Spring and Autumn did reveal themselves, they rarely did so publicly. This made confirmed members of the organization incredibly rare. Today, Zhongli Wu, one of them, had chosen to reveal himself—a truly exceptional occurrence!

"I apologize for keeping this small secret from you all," Zhongli Wu said with a calm smile, nodding at Dong Wushuang. "I hope you won't mind."

His expression then turned serious as he produced a large brush and began to write in the air, as if recording something on the pages of the book.

Dong Wushuang was at a loss for words. The fact that his old friend was part of such a mysterious organization was beyond his wildest expectations!

"And your true strength... have you been hiding that too?!" Dong Wushuang asked, his voice filled with incredulity.

Spring and Autumn members were rumored to be top-tier fighters, as their role of recording truth often attracted danger.

"Heh, I've kept a few tricks up my sleeve, nothing more," Zhongli Wu replied modestly. "But now, I need to focus on documenting this."

With that, he fell silent, fully engrossed in his task.

Dong Wushuang stood there with his mouth half-open, countless questions bubbling up inside him, all stuck in his throat.

A simple test, he thought, even if Liam is exceptionally talented, how could it possibly warrant the attention of someone from Spring and Autumn?

Does this mean that what's happening here is something that Zhongli Wu considers worthy of being recorded in history?

How could that be?!

"Alright, calm down, War God," Cain said, breaking out of his own shock with a chuckle. "This test, which seemed ordinary, was destined to be extraordinary."

...

This major revelation didn't affect Liam's performance. He was currently locked in a fierce battle against thirty-eight students.

After colliding with Ryan in a clash of titanic forces, both combatants were momentarily separated.

Liam was knocked back several meters, his icy gauntlet shattering and his ice armor cracking in multiple places.

Ryan, meanwhile, crashed into the ground like a meteor, sinking deep into the earth. His right hand was completely encased in ice, and a trickle of blood appeared at the corner of his mouth. Yet the sight of his own blood only seemed to fuel his frenzy. He smashed his frozen hand into the ground, shattering the ice, then shook it off and charged at Liam again.

While dealing with Ryan, Liam was also fending off the attacks of the other students. But for the most part, anyone who got close was swiftly defeated.

The students' combat abilities simply weren't on par with Liam's, let alone the godlike creatures he had faced earlier in the test. While the god-servants may not have been stronger than the students individually, their fearlessness, madness, and tight coordination made them far more formidable.

These students, however, were a motley crew—there was no real unity among them, and none were truly willing to risk their lives against Liam. They were all focused on their own interests, unable to form a proper alliance. Even now, they had to watch their backs, wary of being stabbed by their own teammates.

Liam's eight energy chains moved like the legs of a spider, propelling him through the crowd. Almost every attack he made sent a student flying, their bodies encased in ice.

What should have been a fierce contest between a tiger and a pack of wolves had instead turned into a slaughter, with the tiger tearing through the sheep with ease. Few of the students could put up any meaningful resistance.

Liam, being a rather vengeful person, made sure to exact his revenge on those who had stolen from him earlier. Yun Fei, for instance, was now battered and bruised, struggling to stand as Liam continued to strike him every time he passed by, ensuring he was completely incapacitated.

The scene was tragic, to say the least.

At this point, Liam had already stripped several students of their wristbands and tossed them out of the secret realm. Only a few, like Ryan, among the top-tier students, could give Liam any real trouble. Ryan's massive 2.5-meter-tall frame and relentless charges were like getting hit by a truck, even through Liam's armor.

Liam's "Ice Age" ability could momentarily freeze Ryan's monstrous body, but it wasn't enough to hold him for long. To truly subdue Ryan, Liam would need to focus all his attention on him, similar to how he had dealt with Liu Peng earlier. But Liam was too preoccupied with the other students to do so, so he kept knocking Ryan back while taking down everyone else.

Even with someone like Ryan among their ranks, the student coalition was steadily losing ground. Over ten students were already lying on the ground, completely out of the fight.

It was clear to everyone that Liam was on the verge of total victory.

"A perfect performance..." Dong Wushuang began to clap, only to be interrupted by an outburst.

"No! Impossible!"

"How could he be this powerful? I demand an investigation! This needs to be investigated!"

"He's cheating, he must be! He's a traitor to humanity! He must be using some external force, there's something wrong with him!"

"He must be doing something wrong, he—ahhhhh!"

Li Qi had finally snapped. Thirty-six hours of anticipation and frustration had pushed her over the edge. Liam's flawless performance had given her no opening to criticize, and now, she had completely lost her composure. Ignoring the presence of the leaders and the dean, she was now in a full-blown frenzy.

Zhongli Wu, who had been quietly writing, frowned slightly. He raised a finger and pointed it toward the hysterical Li Qi.

"Silence."
