บท 14: Chapter 14: The Entire World is My Spy Network

In front of a large mirror, Liam adjusted his collar and took a few deep breaths.

He was now dressed in the combat uniform that had been handed out earlier that day, with the superpower ID card pinned to his chest. The clothes he had worn before, soaked from the rain and covered in dust from the journey, were now spinning in the washing machine in his room.

"Honestly... I wonder if those in charge can handle this..."

As Liam tidied his clothes, he muttered to himself, recalling the scene when Sophia took the phone call earlier.

From the few words he heard, Liam guessed that Sophia was probably dealing with the very situation he had heard about.

But given Sophia's strength, whatever was going on was likely more than just a simple case of human trafficking.

Liam was confident in his abilities now, but he still had doubts. What if he couldn't handle it?

To be honest, if he only had the Ice Age ability, he probably wouldn't bother with this matter. But now, he also had the ability to hear the Voice of All Things.

He was acutely aware of how powerful this ability was. He could easily outdo a hundred Sherlock Holmeses. The world itself could be his informant.

Two choices lay before him:

First, he could go out and use the Voice of All Things to find the culprits. With his abilities, he was confident he could track them down if they were nearby.

Second, he could stay in, play his game, and let others handle it. This wasn't his responsibility, but the thought of two children possibly suffering because he didn't act weighed heavily on his conscience.

And besides...

When he was younger, he had always hated human traffickers. Back in his teenage years, during that passionate, idealistic phase, he often fantasized about what he would do if he ever encountered a trafficker—how he would punish them, make them pay.

Now that he had the power and the opportunity, how could he just sit back?

Finally, he picked up his phone and looked at the game, already several minutes into the match. His teammates had begun spamming question marks, and those with less patience had started cursing.

He turned on voice chat and brought the phone close to his mouth, saying:

"Guys, I've got to AFK. Sorry, but I need to go catch some human traffickers!"

With that, he reluctantly tossed his phone onto the bed, knowing he was likely to lose the rank he had worked so hard to earn.

"Please don't report me, don't ban me."

"Tsk, if I manage to save those kids, their parents had better thank me!"

"Or... at least not sue me."

Muttering to himself, Liam rushed downstairs, wearing his combat uniform.

Calming his nerves, he gazed at the dark streets and dim lights before closing his eyes.

In times like this, vision was unnecessary. He needed to focus all his attention on his hearing.

The ability he had painstakingly learned to suppress now had to be activated again.

Voice of All Things, activate!

Human traffickers, huh... The entire world is my spy network!

In an instant, a cacophony of voices flooded Liam's ears, causing him to frown deeply.

Concentrating on the task at hand, he filtered out the noise and focused on finding useful information.

[Stone: A few people in black and red clothes stepped on me earlier, I forgot exactly how many.]

[Marble Steps: I don't know! Don't ask me.]

...

In the quiet of the night, with nothing but the sounds of the world in his ears, Liam stood still for a long time before slowly taking a step forward.

Veins bulged on his forehead as he exerted immense mental effort to sift through the overwhelming information. Finding someone was far more complex than tracking the wind; there were countless factors to consider, each draining his energy.

After just a few minutes, the mental strain was immense—more exhausting than doing four or five consecutive math exams back in high school.

But he was onto something.

With his eyes still shut, as if navigating by an invisible guide, Liam confidently strode forward.

He avoided every obstacle in his path with uncanny precision. Anyone watching would have been amazed by his "good luck."

Following a peculiar, specific trajectory, Liam marched ahead.

Despite the tension, he remained focused, unperturbed by any sense of fear.

As he began his search, he realized how scarce the clues were. The culprits had clearly been well-prepared.

He now understood that without an ability like his, it would be nearly impossible to find the targets using conventional methods.

He also knew he was on his own—tonight, it was his battle to fight.

...

Meanwhile, several figures swiftly converged at a location.

"Anything? Any sign of suspicious individuals or unusual energy readings?"

The leader, Sophia, asked, her sharp gaze sweeping over the group, eager for any useful clues.

But there were none. Everyone shook their heads.

These seasoned superhumans had scoured the entire Black Horse Stadium area in record time, but they found nothing.

One of them, soaked from head to toe, panted slightly as he reported to Sophia:

"Reporting, Warlord. I suspect they might have already fled. If there's a flier among them, they could be out of the city by now."

"I even swam through the moat—they're not in the water either."

Sophia frowned and shook her head. "Impossible. The God's Servants wouldn't go to the trouble of kidnapping two children just to flee."

"They took those kids for a sacrifice, which means they're still here!"

Nearby, another female superhuman glanced at her watch, her face heavy with dread.

"It's been so long already. Those two kids, I fear..."

Sophia interrupted:

"It's more than that. If they complete the sacrifice and summon their god..."

"Think about it—why did they choose today, of all days, to do this?"

The others froze, then quickly understood what Sophia meant.

They weren't novices—they knew exactly what she was implying.

All of them turned simultaneously to look at the temporary student dormitories surrounding Black Horse Stadium.

There, the most talented and promising students from all over the world, chosen for their exceptional potential, were sleeping.

Each one of them was a treasure.

Though they were gifted and capable, they hadn't undergone systematic training or gained combat experience.

Worse, they had no idea what superhumans really faced.

The reality of spiritual revival and the rise of superhumans had been public knowledge for decades, but many truths remained undisclosed to the general public.

Even these prodigies were unprepared for the reality.

Sophia clenched her teeth, her mind racing.

Their true goal was to destroy the seedlings before they could grow.

They would do anything to prevent someone like Sophia from rising again.
