We slipped out of the school grounds and headed to a quiet spot in a nearby park. Coraline pulled out a blanket from her bag, and we sat down under a large oak tree. She looked at me expectantly, waiting for me to spill my guts.
I told Coraline everything about the disaster lunch, Kayla's proposition, and how Ethan shut her down. Coraline listened intently, nodding occasionally.
"And you shut it down right? Rabid dog style?" Coraline's eyes gleamed.
"She's a girl; I can't do that," I replied.
"Wow, okay ew. You really need to grow a pair," she said bluntly. "You're seriously so fucking unattractive right now."
"Thanks, Coraline, really helpful," I replied sarcastically.
"I'm serious, Kyle. You need to stand up for yourself, especially with people like Kayla. Look, Ethan obviously cares about you. He wouldn't have reacted like that otherwise. But you need to show him that you can handle things too."
