"Anyone, please save me!!!"
*Thwick*
...
'Huh? I'm fine?' Livy opened her eyes and realized she was unharmed.
"Are you okay?"
A boy's deep voice rang out, drawing Livy's attention to him.
Livy saw the figure before her eyes, all the emotions she had suppressed burst out. Tears involuntarily welled up in the corners of her eyes. Her lips trembled as she exclaimed.
"Briar!"
---
"Which way should I go now?"
Briar was now faced with a very difficult decision, with three paths laid out before him.
He was very strong in battle as well as very smart and bright in studying. There was only one thing that gave him a huge headache: Hopeless at directions.
That's right, Briar was inherently directionally challenged. He was very bad at finding his way. And he was ridiculously bad.
A simple comparison to illustrate his level of being directionally challenged would be to think of a certain green-haired swordsman; Briar was just as bad as him.
He had always gotten lost when he was alone, but he was always lucky enough to arrive at the meeting point on time. This was proof that he had an unimaginably high luck stat.
Briar was not stupid; he knew he was lucky, so he was free to do what he liked. He was confident he would never be in life-threatening danger. In his daily life, he didn't prioritize finding his way, knowing other factors would help him reach his destination on time.
But the situation now was different, he did not dare to make a hasty choice. This kind of luck only affected himself and did not affect the people around him. What if he randomly chose a direction that was not dangerous for him, while one of the remaining paths was dangerous but he could meet Livy and Danz again. He couldn't control his luck.
Briar had been standing at this fork for more than 10 minutes now and he still couldn't make a decision.
While he was still lost in thought, one of the forks ahead made some very small sounds and a light wind blew.
'It's like someone is fighting in there.'
Briar's eyes lit up as that thought crossed his mind. He quickly pulled himself together and rushed into that fork.
He charged straight ahead without encountering any major obstacles. Perhaps what caught his attention was the large number of spider webs around.
Briar quickly urged his brain to work, searching through his knowledge of the spiders that could be encountered in the maze-like dungeon. He quickly narrowed down a few species and came up with a suitable fighting strategy.
It all looked complicated, but it hadn't even been a minute since Briar entered the fork. That showed how terrifying his fighting mindset was.
Gradually, the corridor that Briar was moving along began to show signs of battle. Briar's eyes lit up when he noticed a few arrows stuck in the ground and the corpses of a few Zico spiders. Everything was still very new.
Briar immediately accelerated when he knew who was facing these spiders. That person was none other than one of his two separated teammates - Livy Hadley.
Very quickly, a small figure with orange hair appeared in his sight. It was just that the situation was not good at all. Livy had lost the ability to fight because her hands and feet were bound by silk.
Briar's pupils shrank when he realized that he was still some distance away from Livy. At this distance, he could not swing his spear.
But with his quick fighting mind, Briar immediately came up with a countermeasure.
"Anyone, please save me!!!"
He pulled out the spear on his back, channeled mana into the tip of the spear, and threw it with all his might at the spider closest to Livy.
*Thwick*
"Are you okay?"
Briar took advantage of the moment when the spiders were distracted and charged straight at Livy.
The little girl couldn't hold back her emotions when she saw the person who saved her. She cried out his name as if she was about to burst out.
"Briar!"
"Yeah, it's me."
Briar smiled reassuringly and reached out to free Livy from the spider web. But he immediately stiffened and pulled his hand back.
"Wait for me a moment. I'll be back soon."
Briar turned around and pulled his spear out of the spider's corpse. Without hesitation, he charged into attacking the remaining Zico spiders.
His fighting form was no different from the battles with monsters the team had encountered before. But in Livy's eyes at this moment, Briar's back was so big, so majestic and warm.
She couldn't take her eyes off Briar. Livy kept watching him fight the Zico spiders until the battle ended.
"Haaaa... finally done." Briar let out a sigh of relief and turned to Livy.
"Let me untie you." He said kindly and knelt down, channeling mana into the spear and started cutting the threads that were binding Livy.
"Ah?"
Only then did Livy come back to her senses. Her cheeks couldn't help but blush from embarrassment.
'Why am I staring at him like that? What's wrong with me?'
Livy's thoughts became a bit chaotic as she remembered the scene before.
"It's done."
While Livy was about to die of embarrassment, Briar finally cut off all the threads stuck to her arms and legs.
"Ah! T-Thank you." Livy stammered.
"It's okay... Are you not feeling well? Your face is a little red."
Briar said and reached out to place his hand on Livy's forehead, wanting to check if Livy had a fever.
"Hmm, it's a little hot-"
"It's nothing! I'm fine, it's just a little hot in here." Livy quickly cut Briar off and pushed his hand away from her forehead.
She couldn't tell him that her face was burning up from embarrassment.
"Hmm, you're right. It's a little stuffy in here so it's a little hot." Briar paused for a moment and felt the temperature around her.
"Phew."
'It's over'. Livy let out a sigh of relief.
...
The atmosphere suddenly became silent.
"By the way, did you see Danny on the way here?". After adjusting her state for a while, Livy finally asked her question.
"Danz? No, I didn't see him." Briar frowned at Livy's question.
He had hoped that Livy was with Danz. But when she said that, Briar knew that the two of them had not met him yet.
Livy knew that Briar had not met Danz yet and started to get nervous. Through the encounter with the spiders, she had realized how dangerous it was to go alone in the Dungeon. It was even more terrifying than she had imagined.
"We have to hurry." Livy said urgently and quickly.
Briar was not stupid, he understood the seriousness of the current situation. He knew that he needed to find Danz before he encountered a monster. He knew very well that just because he could face many monsters at once did not mean that others could.
"Um!". Briar nodded seriously and quickly chased after Livy.
---
Based on my feelings, I guessed that more than half a day had passed since I started moving alone. Things were going pretty well as I kept repeating the same sequence of actions: find traps - kill monsters - rest.
Luckily for me, I haven't encountered any major dangers yet. There was only one time when I had to face 5 F rank monsters that gave me a hard time. But I still managed to kill them and survive. Mostly because I took advantage of the traps I discovered nearby that helped me survive.
The price for surviving under the onslaught of 5 monsters was that I suffered a pretty serious injury to my left arm. But well, at least it wasn't my right arm. If my right arm was injured, I would be in serious trouble.
I was currently resting and bandaging my wound with the first aid kit I brought with me in the Storage Space. I planned to rest a bit more after bandaging it and then continue on. Although I didn't know which direction to go to meet Liz and Briar, it was better than nothing. Who knows, maybe luck would strike and I would meet the two of them along the way.
After closing my eyes for a while, I felt a little better.
"Alright, let's keep going."
I stood up and continued moving. And of course, I just followed my hunch and prayed that I was on the right track.
---
"Haaaaaa, when will I meet them?" I sighed as I walked.
I hadn't been in the Dungeon for long, but I was really in a hurry. I needed to meet up with my teammates as soon as possible so that I could defeat the Boss and escape from here. I had been in here for more than a day, which meant that it was now Sunday and I had to go to school on Monday. Well, I didn't want to skip school.
I pinched my eyebrows while thinking about the lessons I would miss if I didn't go to class... well, the actual reason was that on Monday, I had Aveline's class. Missing her class would draw more attention from her, and I didn't want that.
I activated Sharp Gaze for a moment and then deactivated it. The purpose was to observe if there was anything unusual around.
'Nothing unusual'
Since there were no traps, I continued to walk forward.
Suddenly, I felt a slight dizziness, causing me to stop and furrow my brows.
"Did I use my skills too much?"
On the way, I occasionally had similar symptoms. The reason was because I used Sharp Gaze too much, which put pressure on my brain. After a short rest, I would return to normal.
I walked to the wall, sat down, and started to rest again.
"If only those two were with me..."
It was true. My hunting efficiency was really low when I was alone because I had to stop and rest a lot. Not to mention that being alone was too dangerous for a weakling like me.
If Liz and Briar were there, the amount of work I had to do would be greatly reduced and the efficiency of the whole group would also increase.
"Haizzz...". I sighed in frustration.
While I was bored and resting, a series of footsteps getting closer and closer made me startled and open my eyes.
What caught my eyes were two familiar figures. A boy and a girl, with the common point of extremely eye-catching appearance and two outstanding hair colors.
My eyes lit up when I saw the two of them.
"Liz! Briar!"
