บท 10: Chapter Ten

***

"You've only heard his point of view. You never asked mine." The atmosphere around the tiny house, was a cold and dark one. It was night time, about ten years into the past. The winds of the autumn breeze waved past his face, but sadly only for a second. He'd been asked to wait outside, while his parents talked with one another back in the house. Clearly, however, their voices weren't low or quiet. And young Aaron had been forced to listen to every single thing they said. And a few of those things, sent hurt and pain through his entire body. He was only nine years old during that time, ten years and he still remembered that same pain, even now. As an adult, at nineteen he was still feeling it. Arching through his strained heart, and making his blood turn cold.

***

He was brought back to life almost seconds after the painful words of his mothers speech faded from his ears. Altered and wondering where he was, he found comfort underneath him, which was odd, since the last thing he felt before passing out, was the hard flooring of the last place he'd been. And that was the strip club. The same one he watched closely, as Edward drank himself drunk. Rolling his eyes as he replayed the memory, he was quick to touch up and down on his back, where the wound had been. To his surprise, there wasn't anything there. Not even a single drop of blood, sadly, his sweater had seen better days. Unaware, that he wasn't wearing his sweater anymore, he felt a sudden breeze of cold air brush past him, as he jumped to his feet. Eager to find something to cover up with. Sadly, at the moment, pants were the only thing he seemed to own.

His muscles were raw and strained as he moved, but baring through the pain just like he'd always done, wasn't a challenge this time. He made his way through the tiny room, in which he'd woken up in, and was eager to search for an exit. To his surprise, he heard the sudden screeching of a door, then hissing and squeaks of the floorboards just inches behind him. He felt the small bit of his cold power, come through his body, and stick to him, but as he realized, his mist still wasn't strong enough. If strong was even the word to call it. Barely any cold wind was coming out of his fingertips, the part about self defence had been removed from the table.

"I daren't stay long. I just had to see you." He was quick to match the voice to Edward. Unable to turn down and face him, he remained still. His bare back, left without a single scratch, facing right toward him.

"You don't think that was just lemonade in your glass, do you?" Aaron hissed. ''One guess that it wasn't.''

''I see we're back on the joke side of our relationship. All right? I'll play along...I understand what I did, wasn't fair to you Aaron. I left your side, for a party I cared nothing about. I should've have done that, and I deeply seek your forgiveness.''

''If I had known how much trouble you'd cause me, I never would have never accepted your offer to come with me.''

"I saw it as clearly as I see you standing there, now." Aaron could tell there was a sudden change in Edward's voice, as he spoke those words. They almost sounded romantic. Which Aaron hadn't gotten much of, since the disappearance and banishment of Alec. Which only made him experience more heartbreak, as he thought of his lost loved one.

''What do you see? Explain it to me?'' Aaron questioned his curiosity coming over him, as he still refused to turn to Edward. Refusing to take in the light of the reflection of the fake color contacts he still wore. Having only just realized his were now missing, Aaron had even more of a reason to hate.

''At the strip club, while I was drunk, all I could think about was you, Aaron. Was how badly I wanted you to hold me. And once you did, I felt so warm inside, I didn't want it to end.....what made you let go...'' Edward whispered.

''What made me let go? What kind of stupid question is that?!'' He hissed. ''I thought I made myself perfectly clear that I didn't think of us like that!''

''You never said anything though! How was I supposed to figure that out!'' Edward barked back.

''I didn't think I needed to say it out loud, Edward! I thought you figured that out from day one! The moment I met you, I knew what kind of person you were! And it didn't matter how I felt about you, I'm with Alec! And the only reason your here, here right now! Standing here with me, is because you offered me your help! Your help to rescue him! Do you remember that now? You offered me your help! Which had nothing to do with falling in love with me!''

"This isn't just about you. It's about what's best for all of us! Now just shut up!'' Edward bowed his head to the ground. His bright orange eyes growing brighter, as he felt the passion, and the heartbreak enter into his body all at once. As he felt overwhelmed, he chose to remain quiet instead of continue. Aaron knew the truth about how he felt, its just, he clearly didn't feel the same. Now was his chance to make things better. Stop making things repeat themselves, and try to move on from the past. Edward was sure of himself, the choice to stop was that of a good one. He wasn't wanted. At least not in the way he wished.

"I want to turn back the clock to before..."

''Well, it doesn't always work like that. Sometimes you mess up so badly, there's no fixing it. And in this case, you screwed up hard, Edward.''

''I see.....the man who helped me save you, would like to have a word. He sent me here to see if you'd woken up yet.'' He finished.

''Well, I'm awake.'' Aaron groaned.

''Here, you'll need this'' Just as Aaron turned around to face Edward, he was surprised to see what had been thrown towards him. As he gripped the long black cloak in both his hands, he was confused at first. Raising his brow at the sight of the cloak. But before he had to ask Edward himself, he got the answer.

"We've brought to much unwanted attention to ourselves, with what happened at the club. Plus it would seem we've run out of clean clothes to wear, so the cloaks I picked up, will have to do.......I honestly hope my words didn't harm you to much...I'd gladly take them back if I could.''

"Why didn't he come and talk to me himself? That might've saved us this awkward conversation..'' Aaron wondered as he slipped the cloak over his shoulders, making sure the buttons were done up, so his bare chest could be covered properly. He let his arms hang loosely at his sides. Because of the long length of the cloak, his arms were no longer visible. Nor were his legs, or feet. The cloak was succeeding in keeping him hidden.

''I didn't care to ask him. He just wanted you, so I respected that.'' Edward whispered softly. ''I'm not allowed in the room, with you. Just you and him.'' Aaron rose his brow as he walked along the cabin flooring. The guess that he was inside a cabin, had been clear to him once the sent in the air finally got around to him. Which smelled of rotting oak, and very wet wood. Aaron was sure the place wouldn't last another week, if the condition kept worsening, but there wasn't any time to talk over design plans. Aaron was ready to hear the bastards side of things. He had no desire to care! Just because the man saved his life, didn't mean such a thing. Motives are offend the greatest, when fueling lonely souls. So, what said the man wasn't just lonely, and needing some sort of company.

Perhaps his savior was the man they'd been sent to seek out, all that time...Aaron couldn't be sure, unless he went in. Although he wasn't going in blindly. With or without the strength of his powers, the chance of the man being nothing more than mortal, was a great one. With weak magic, didn't mean no magic. So, worse case, he'd be freezing a mortal tonight....

And as he went inside the room, as the door closed behind him, and Edward's presence had vanished. He couldn't help himself but smile. It was a small one, but still a smile. Deep down, Aaron knew he was going to have fun.......
