บท 16: Crossing Over

Leoric had already lost his balance and was falling towards Angel. In a desperate attempt to steady himself, he reached out for something to hold onto, but his hands found nothing.

Before he knew it, he was falling into the woman on the bed, his chest pressing against two twin peaks and his face hovering just inches away from hers. At that moment, he could smell the jasmine scent of her perfume and feel the warmth of her breath on his face.

The boat tilted to the left side, and the light flickered. Screams filled the air.

Still struggling to wake up, Angel felt she was lying on the shallow pit dug by Lakan Lando and slowly covered by dirt. She felt a heavy weight on her chest, and something warm and wet went inside her mouth. Was it soil getting into her mouth?

"Get me out! I am not dead!" She shouted at the top of her voice, but only moans came out, and her body felt like lead.

The boat spun and tilted to the right. Leoric was thrown off Angel, and he lay with his back on the soft mattress beside her. He realized what he had just done and cursed himself.

'F*ck! How could I lose control and kiss her? What a pervert!'

He cussed, but his hand unconsciously touched his lips, and he remembered the softness and sweetness of her lips. He could not think how he could, a man known for his self-control that even if a woman stood naked in front of him, he would not even flinch; but earlier, when he felt her soft body and saw her red lips slightly opened when she moaned, he felt a strong desire to kiss her, and he even entered her mouth.

'Damn! What a pervert! How could I do that?' He was very angry at himself. He turned around and glared at the woman beside her, whose brows were furrowed.

"I hate her!" He convinced himself, and as rage started to consume him, he reached out to strangle her.

The moment his big hand tightened, the yacht shuddered, and the lights turned off.

Screams once again filled the air. The boat tilted to the left, and Leoric felt Angel's body slip. He hugged her with his left arm while his right hand groped for the metal frame of the headboard.

Just when Leoric thought the boat stabilized, it tilted to the right at a 90-degree angle.

Leoric rolled, and his head hit the wall. He blacked out.

At a cabin on the lower deck, a young man was sitting with his legs crossed in the half-lotus position. His hands formed the cosmic mudra, where his right hand rested on his lap, and his left hand was on top of his right hand, his palms facing upward. The hands were placed near the stomach just below the navel, with thumbs touching lightly.

He was not affected by the rough tilting of the yacht. He seemed to be enveloped in a luminous blue light. As the man concentrated, the light spread out and covered the entire lower deck.

Beads of perspiration appeared on his forehead and rolled down the side of his face. He began panting and was in pain. He refocused his efforts, knowing that he could not fail. If he did, more than half of the innocent lives on the boat would be lost.

Angel woke up just in time to see herself and Leoric slam into the wall of the stateroom. She lapsed into unconsciousness.

A groaning sound was heard as if the yacht was about to disintegrate. Angel's eyes opened. They were not green but the orange color of fire.

A bluish-white color radiated from her body. It spread out from the stateroom and extended to the outside of the yacht, enveloping it like a protective shield.

The yacht stopped groaning, and everything went silent.

The man on the lower deck opened his eyes, which widened in disbelief. He was about to pass out from exhaustion when he felt a powerful force enveloping the entire boat, giving him a reprieve.

"Who is it? How powerful is his mana to envelope the entire ship so that he can no longer feel the deadly force of the vortex?" the man murmured. He rose from his bed, took out a luminous pearl from his pocket, and looked for the source of that energy. He was about to ascend the stairs to the third level when he heard a loud thud; then he passed out.

The hot temperature inside the stateroom awakened Leoric. He was in a daze, and his head was aching. He was lying on his side, and there was a weight on his chest. He touched the back of his head and found a slight bump. He remembered he hit the wall and passed out.

His right arm was pinned under a weight, and when he looked closer, it was Angel. His face contorted and showed disgust, but then a pleasant, subtle scent of mixed flowers with a hint of the smell of sea assaulted his nostrils. He thought it was her perfume. He was wrong; It was her hair.

He roughly removed his hand from under her body, but she did not stir at all.

'Is she sleeping, or is she unconscious?' Leoric pondered as he pushed her to the left side of the bed. Angel did not open her eyes.

Leoric pinched the side of her waist. He applied a lot of force, but still, she did not budge. Leoric placed his finger under her nostril and sighed when he found that she was still breathing.

A loud, frantic knocking came from the door.

"Boss... We have a situation here. Come out!"

Leoric did not recognize the voice, but he was sure he should be one of the crew members.

He hurried to the door and opened it. He came face to face with the captain and the chief engineer, both disheveled and looking pale.

"What happened last night? Did we encounter a tornadic waterspout? But the weather was fine in the afternoon."

"Mr. Grayson, you better come with us to the upper deck," the chief engineer said worriedly.

Leoric glanced around and saw many pieces of furniture scattered on the floor.

The two stewards assigned to the third level were in a daze. They just stood there, still in shock.

Leoric followed the two officers' lead. He really had a bad feeling. Glancing at the railing, he thought the water was too gray and too calm.

When the trio reached the sun deck, Leoric's jaw dropped.

"Where the hell are we?"
