บท 11: Chapter 11: The Silver Wheel Spins

The small, dimly lit apartment felt suffocating, yet Alex sat in the middle of it, wide-eyed and barely breathing. The holographic system panel floated in front of him, glowing softly, casting a pale light over the worn furniture. The air was thick with anticipation. His hands trembled, hovering over the screen. The moment he'd been waiting for had finally arrived—his first chance to spin the Silver Wheel.

Points: 50/50 Next Spin: Silver Wheel – Available

Alex inhaled deeply, trying to calm the wild beating of his heart. The wheel represented his lifeline in this insane, unpredictable world. It was his only way to survive in a universe filled with cosmic beings, super-soldiers, and gods. Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor… they were all out there, living lives he'd only seen in movies and comics. But now, his life was their world.

The Silver Wheel hovered in front of him, glinting in the pale light of the system interface. This was it. His shot at gaining real power. He'd spent days subtly messing with the plot of the Marvel universe to gain the points necessary for this spin. Now, it was time to reap the rewards.

He couldn't help but feel a surge of nervous excitement as he stared at the glowing wheel. Names from both Marvel and DC flashed across the silver surface, dozens of options that could change his life in an instant. It was a gamble, but one he had to take if he was going to survive.

"I'm ready," Alex whispered under his breath, his fingers twitching in anticipation.

He tapped the "SPIN" button, and the wheel began to rotate, the names blurring together. Each character name passed by in a flash—The Gambit, Ant-Man, Black Panther, Nightwing, Cyborg, Zatana—their powers potentially within his grasp. His pulse quickened as the wheel spun faster, the tension building with every tick of the mechanism.

The wheel gradually slowed, the pointer inching closer to a decision. His eyes were glued to the panel, trying to make out the names as they passed.

Click. Click. Click.

The wheel's pace dropped to a crawl, finally resting on a name that caused Alex's breath to catch in his throat.

Spider-Man – Peter Parker

A grin spread across his face. Spider-Man. Peter Parker, the friendly neighborhood superhero with one of the most well-rounded sets of abilities in the Marvel universe. Alex could hardly believe his luck. Spider-Man's powers weren't just useful—they were versatile. Speed, agility, strength, and of course, the famous Spider-Sense. It was the perfect blend for both survival and combat in this chaotic world.

The system buzzed, confirming the selection:

You have acquired the powers of Spider-Man (Peter Parker).

Abilities: Superhuman Strength, Speed, Agility, Spider-Sense, Wall-Crawling, Web-Shooting (Requires Web Shooters), Enhanced Reflexes, Accelerated Healing.

Alex's body tingled as the powers integrated into him. There was no dramatic transformation—no green skin like the Hulk, no suit of armor like Iron Man—but something had definitely changed. His muscles felt stronger, more responsive, and his senses sharpened as though a veil had been lifted. He could hear the faintest of noises, like the hum of traffic blocks away and even the soft rustle of wind against the window.

He stretched out his arms, flexing his fingers. They looked the same, but now they felt like they could do much more. He imagined gripping a web shooter, swinging from buildings like Spider-Man himself. He closed his eyes, picturing it in his mind. It felt right—like he was born for it.

A sudden notification pulled him back to the system panel.

Five slots available for Silver Wheel characters. Upgrade to Platinum Wheel at 1,000 Points.

"Wait… only five slots left?" Alex muttered, reading the text again to be sure. Six characters. That was the limit for Silver Wheel powers. That meant every choice he made moving forward would be crucial. If he wanted to upgrade his powers, he'd need to rack up a thousand points. A thousand and perhaps even more.

His initial excitement dimmed slightly as the reality set in. One thousand points to unlock the Platinum Wheel, where the real heavy-hitters were. Characters like Superman, Thor, the Flash, Doctor Strange, The Ancient One—beings capable of shaking the very foundations of the universe. And until then, he was limited to six silver-tier heroes. But even that wasn't so bad, considering he had just unlocked Spider-Man's powers.

He couldn't help but smile. Five slots. Five chances to build a perfect combination of abilities to survive whatever came his way. If he played his cards right, he could become untouchable before long.

"Alright, Spider-Man," he said softly, still getting used to the idea. "Let's see what you can do."

The idea of having Spider-Man's abilities was exhilarating. He had to try them out. Without hesitation, he stood up and headed for the window of his apartment. The old, creaky window groaned as he pushed it open. His heart raced as he stared down at the street five floors below. If his powers were real—and they sure felt real—this should be easy.

With a deep breath, Alex climbed up onto the ledge, crouching just like he had seen Spider-Man do so many times in comics and movies. His hands and feet stuck to the surface effortlessly, the sensation strange but oddly natural. He was really doing this.

"Okay… here goes nothing," he muttered, before taking a leap.

The wind rushed past him as he soared through the air, but panic never set in. He felt weightless, as if the air itself was bending to his will. His hands shot out toward the side of the building, and his fingers stuck like glue to the rough surface. With a flick of his wrist, he pulled himself upward, clinging to the wall with ease.

He started to climb, hand over hand, moving as naturally as if he'd been doing it for years. His enhanced strength made the task effortless, and in no time, he reached the rooftop. Alex stood up, grinning from ear to ear, looking out at the city below.

"Holy crap," he whispered, marveling at the view from the rooftop. His body buzzed with energy, the Spider-Man powers making him feel invincible. This was just the beginning. He had three more slots to fill, and the possibilities were endless.

But with that excitement came the weight of responsibility. He couldn't afford to get reckless, no matter how powerful he became. This world was dangerous. His newfound strength was a tool, a weapon even—but one that could get him into trouble just as easily as it could save him.

A small notification appeared in the corner of his vision, a subtle reminder of what came next.

Points: 0/1,000 Platinum Wheel – Locked

Alex couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of it all. One thousand points. It seemed like an insurmountable number right now, but with these new powers, it was more attainable than ever. He would need to continue interfering with the timeline, pushing events to unfold in ways that earned him more points.

For now, though, Alex knew he needed to take things slow. Caution had gotten him this far, and being reckless could get him killed. He had Spider-Man's powers, but he wasn't invincible—not yet.

"Well," Alex said, looking down at the street below. "It's a start."

He leapt from the rooftop, his heart pounding as he swung from ledge to ledge, his body reacting to every movement with the ease of someone who had done this for years. For the first time since he had transmigrated into this world, Alex felt a glimmer of hope. The odds weren't so stacked against him anymore. He had power. He had a plan.

And now, he had a lot of points to earn.

He gazed out over the skyline, the weight of the world settling on his shoulders.

"I guess this is the part where I figure out how to be a hero," he muttered to himself, feeling the responsibility start to take hold.

As the sun began to set over the horizon, Alex knew that his journey had only just begun.
