บท 31: Chapter 31: Fall from high

Roman's mind wandered to a persistent concern - transportation. He had relied on taxis for a while, but it was time for a change. He desired something more permanent, a vehicle to call his own.

Though not a car enthusiast, Roman had always been drawn to certain models, but his lack of knowledge made him hesitant. He needed guidance from someone well-versed in the world of cars.

As he thought about his acquaintances, one name came to mind - Michael, the wealthy businessman he had met at the banquet. Roman recalled Michael's lavish lifestyle and assumed he might have connections or expertise in the automotive world. Perhaps Michael could offer valuable advice or introduce him to someone who could help.

With a new lead, Roman decided to reach out to Michael, hoping their brief acquaintance would be enough to warrant some assistance. He picked up his phone and sent a text, asking if Michael was available to meet and discuss cars. Roman waited eagerly for a response, hoping this connection would lead him to the perfect set of wheels.

Michael replied, "Hey Roman, I'm not a car expert myself, but I know someone who is. Would you like me to connect you with him?"

Roman's response was immediate, "Yes, please! I'd really appreciate it."

Michael asked, "When do you need help? This guy is quite busy, but I'm sure he'll make time if I ask him to."

Roman thought for a moment before responding, "How about tomorrow?"

Michael replied, "Okay, I'll let him know. He'll meet you at the coffee shop downtown at 10 am. His name is Alex, and he's a car enthusiast. He'll be able to help you out."

Roman was thrilled. He had a meeting set up with a car expert, courtesy of Michael's connection. He was looking forward to meeting Alex and finally finding the right car. He replied to Michael, "Thanks a lot, Michael! I really appreciate it. I'll meet Alex at the coffee shop tomorrow at 10 am."

With that, Roman had a plan in place. He was one step closer to finding his dream car, and he was grateful for the help. He went to bed that night feeling optimistic, looking forward to the next day's meeting.

As the morning wore on, Roman's stomach began to rumble, signaling the approaching lunch hour. He made his way to the stairs, calling out to Bianca to join him downstairs. Bianca's response was immediate, her footsteps echoing as she hurried to meet him.

But in her haste, Bianca's feet seemed to tangle beneath her, and she tripped on the stairs. Roman's reflexes kicked in, and he swiftly reached out, catching her in mid-air. His hand instinctively landed on her ass, and for a fleeting moment, they locked eyes, frozen in a gaze that seemed to pierce through the air.

The tension was palpable, and Roman's senses were heightened, his heart racing with a mix of concern and something else he couldn't quite explain. But as quickly as the moment arrived, he snapped out of it, his voice stern and authoritative.

"Bianca, how many times have I told you not to run on the stairs?" he scolded, his words a gentle rebuke, but laced with a hint of something more.

Bianca's face flushed, and she looked down, her eyes cast downward in a demure gesture. "I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

To an outside observer, the scene might have appeared as though Roman was chastising or even bullying Bianca. But the truth was far more complex, their relationship a delicate dance of power and vulnerability. Roman's actions were motivated by a desire to protect, to keep Bianca safe from harm, even if it meant scolding her for her own good.

As they stood there, the tension between them crackled like electricity, a palpable force that neither dared to acknowledge openly.

Roman looked at where his hand was.

Roman's hand had landed on Bianca's ass, he quickly withdrew it, his face flushing with embarrassment. "Sorry, Bibi! I didn't mean to...I just reacted instinctively."

Bianca's face was equally red, but she smiled weakly. "It's okay, Roman. I know you didn't mean anything by it."

They stood there for a moment, the tension between them palpable. Roman's stern expression slowly softened, and he looked at Bianca with a hint of concern. "Are you okay? That was a nasty fall."

Bianca nodded, still looking down. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little clumsy, that's all."

Roman chuckled and playfully rolled his eyes. "You're something else, you know that?"

Bianca smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Hey, at least I keep things interesting around here."

Roman smiled back, and they shared a moment of sibling camaraderie. But beneath the surface, a spark of forbidden feelings had been ignited, waiting to be fanned into a flame that would change their lives forever.

Roman dragged her to the kitchen, "So, before you almost broke your face and back on the stairs, I was calling you! So, do you want to cook something together?"

Bianca laughed, her eyes sparkling with amusement, as she playfully rolled her eyes. "Roman, you're such a weirdo! First, you scold me for being clumsy, and then you drag me to the kitchen to cook? What's next?"

Roman grinned, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Hey, priorities, okay? We can't have you starving on my watch. Plus, I figured cooking together might be a good distraction from...you know, the whole almost-dying-on-the-stairs thing."

Bianca chuckled, shaking her head. "You're something else, Roman. But yeah, sure, let's cook something. What did you have in mind?"

Roman's face lit up with excitement. "I was thinking we could make some pasta together. I've got a new recipe I want to try out."

Bianca raised an eyebrow. "A new recipe? You mean you've been watching cooking videos again, don't you?"

Roman sheepishly nodded. "Guilty as charged. But hey, someone's got to keep the culinary skills sharp around here."

As they began rummaging through the kitchen, searching for ingredients, the sibling banter continued, filling the air with a comfortable familiarity. They chatted and joked, their easy rapport a testament to their close relationship.

As they cooked, the sizzle of the pan and the aroma of the sauce filled the kitchen, a warm and cozy atmosphere enveloping them. It was a moment of normalcy, a reminder that despite the chaos and craziness of life, some things remained constant – like the love and laughter shared between siblings.
