บท 20: Chapter 20: I Will Be Alpha of All

Jim POV

I saw a message flash on my phone, and Aiden’s name came up. Before I even had the chance to read the message, I saw his call coming through.

I answered without hesitation.

“Jim,” Aiden’s voice came through the other side of the phone. “Did you read my message?”

“I saw it,” I told him dryly. “I didn’t get a chance to read it just yet given that you called exactly one second later.”

“Clare got her powers,” he said, his voice excited.

“What?” I asked, utterly confused.

“Well,” he said again. “Her powers have begun to awaken. And we’re one step closer to our plan.”

I didn’t argue with him on that point. But how much her powers had awakened was still to be determined. Even so, Aiden was right. We were one step closer to executing our plan.

“That’s excellent news,” I told him, I was sure that he could hear the smile in my voice. “And don’t worry, our agreement still stands. I promise you that Clare will be safe and she won’t be harmed.”
