Staring at the screen for some time, she got up and made her way towards the screen. Gently running her fingers through it, Evelyn sighed in dejection. Though things between them had ended years ago, nothing had really changed.
The wild heartbeats after seeing him hadn't changed. The butterflies in her stomach after seeing his smile hadn't changed. The giddy feeling after thinking about him hadn't changed.
Though everything seemed unchanged and real, Evelyn knew everything had changed and nothing could ever replace it.
Closing her eyes to calm herself down, she quickly turned off the projector before walking out of the meeting room.
….
Evelyn and Holly's work desk.
Slamming the file on the table, Evelyn scoffed, "This is what they call secretive information? This is complete trash, what am I supposed to do with the information I already know?"
"Woah girl calm down first and breath, don't get all hyped up." Holly tried to calm her down. She knew Evelyn was very stressed and she had all the reason to react that way. With the past she shared with Edward, it would indeed be very difficult for her to carry out the project.
"How am I supposed to calm down? How can I not get hyped up Holly? This information is of no use, I know more about him than this stupid blue file," she snapped.
"Relax, they don't know anything about you and Edward, for them this piece of information is like a jackpot." Taking the file away from her, Holly added, "And don't you think this task is much easier for you than anybody else?"
Scrunching her brows, Evelyn inquired, "What do you mean?"
"What I mean is, what if someone who had no idea who Edward is, had gotten this project? Do you think he or she would have managed to complete it?" Without waiting for her reply, she added, "No, they would have definitely failed and maybe get fired too but we are in an advantageous position."
Placing her hand on Evelyn's shoulder, Holly further explained, "We already know Edward—though we aren't in touch with him for many years but how hard is it going to be to call up our old classmates and ask them about him? I mean, out of the crowd of people we know, I am sure someone must have seen that man. It will be easier for us to look for him than anyone else."
Nodding her head in agreement, Evelyn sighed, "What you said makes sense but I really don't know if I am ready for this." Pausing for a while, she added, "I don't know if I am ready to see or face him again."
"Come on, it's been so many years, I am sure you are already over him and everything that happened," Holly tried to assure her.
"You really think so?"
Vigorously shaking her head, Holly pinched the bridge of her nose. "I am still not over whatever happened between the two of you, how can I expect you to be over it? I was just trying to boost your confidence but that just freaked me out."
Taking a deep breath to cleanse her aura, Evelyn sat up straight. "Okay, we don't have any time to spare." Taking out her phone, she added, "First we have to find out where he is and then try to convince him to—"
Cutting her off, Holly remarked, "No, first we have to find where he is and then stalk him for a while."
Scrunching her brows, Evelyn curiously inquired, "Why are we stalking him? That is not a part of the project."
