บท 8: Chapter Eight

"He doesn't remember much from his childhood, but he did tell me once that after he was sent to earth, a lovely human couple took him in as an infant. He was loved and cherished his entire childhood, despite growing up in Ancient Greece. He lived in Athens, and ended up joining the Athenian Army to fight against Sparta when he was eighteen."

"The war was bloody, and many lives were lost on both sides. One day, he came back after eight months on the battlefield, and found out that his 'parents' had been killed in a Spartan ambush. He was quickly discharged from the Army due to the mental and emotional trauma."

"After that, he left Athens, and went to an uncharted space of land in Greece. It was there that he discovered his powers, his race, and his real parents. He knew from then on that he couldn't live among humans so easily, but he did try. It was maybe fifteen years later that he met his first love. His prótos erastís. She was human."

"Her name was Korina. She belonged to Athens, his first home. The way he described her... She was beautiful. Her hair was long and a gorgeous shade of brown, like melted chocolate. Her eyes were the color of the sky, and her skin was like that of parched sand on a forgotten beach."

"Her voice was always soft, with a tone that had you wanting to pay attention to what she had to say. She was patient, and kind, loving, caring. V fell for her far too quickly. They were together for three years, before she noticed the signs of V's powers. His immortality that made it so he would never look a day older than eighteen, his control over the weather, and his freak lightning blue eyes."

"She was killed in an accident regarding horses. Trampled to death. V ran away again after, not wanting to stay long enough to see her body. He felt as if he was a bad luck charm when the next two lovers he had also died from tragic, freak accidents. It was around then that we met."

"It was pouring harshly the night that I first saw V. He was holding a man in his arms, wailing miserably, begging in Greek, Korean, and English for him to come back, to open his eyes. Their foreheads were pressed together, but I could tell even from a distance that the man in his arms was long dead."

"From what I know, the man was V's fourth lover. And his last. His name was originally Korean. Jungsoo. He had gorgeous black hair was always fluffy and looked like he had just woken up. His eyes were gentle, and a soft shade of caramel. He was always happy, making jokes and acting like a child. He dragged V around the town just because."

"Jungsoo was beaten to death under suspicion of being a devil worshipper. The small town he lived in was a very paranoid town. They nearly killed Taehyung too, had he not come with me that night. By far, V was the most attached to the memory of Jungsoo. He told me that they had amazing chemistry. The love that they shared for each other was beyond anything V had ever felt or seen before."

"It took V a month, after we met, for him to finally open up to me. I did my best to help him, and even locked away a partial amount of his power at his request. After ten years of it being just us, he left. He never contacted me after all these years. I was worried sick. But I know that if he ever needed me, he would call for me. Due to our connection, I can hear when he calls out to me. So when he called, I located him, and came as quickly as possible."

"V has seen a lot, I'm sure. He even changed his name. Taehyung, was it? Yes, I've only known him as V. That's what he went by. He was a part of the Athenian-Spartan war, and his name would be recorded in the records, so he didn't want to reveal his birth name to anyone. Not even me. One thing I remember best about V, is that before he left me, he told me something that had obviously been on his mind for a long, long time."

" ' I'm a bad luck charm, right? I'm a monster in human skin, a disgusting being that shouldn't walk so freely among humans. Forget me if you can, because the more you remember me, and the longer I'm around you, the more likely it is that you'll end up like everyone else who's ever gotten close to me. ' "

All five beings sat in silence, processing everything Andreas had said. Processing Taehyung's story. His past. All heads turned though, because a thump was heard by Taehyung's door.

The Olympian sat on the floor, brown hair covering his eyes while his hands clutched tightly onto the hoodie covering most of his body.

"He's right... Andreas.... Is right. I only cause harm... I'm a good for nothing god..."

Taehyung lifted his head, allowing everyone to see his blue eyes, shining with tears of pain.

"But I can't leave... Because I'm too scared to be alone again. And... And Jungkook.... I don't wanna leave him... It hurts me too much. But I know... That all of you will only be hurt in the end. I'm not good for any of you."

Andreas moved to his feet, and walked closer to Taehyung, eventually kneeling down before the Olympian.

"V. You are not a bad luck charm. I know it's hard not to believe that after everything that has happened to you, but you have to trust me. Your presence, your existence, has made an impact on all the people here right now. You're not bad for them, you're good for them. And they are good for you."

"You need this, V. And you need Jungkook."

Taehyung only nodded a bit, head lowered to the floor.

"I need to apologize to Kookie... I upset him really bad," Taehyung mumbled out as Andreas guided him to the couch in the living room. As he sat down, he continued to speak.

"We fought... And... And I said I was leaving. Because I'm a burden to him. He didn't like my answer, and we got mad at each other. But I got so mad that I used my true voice... And then ran away. I ran, like I always do. I went far away from the school so I wouldn't hurt anyone... I didn't know what else to do. I've never learned to do anything but run."

Jin stepped closer, leaning down to hug Taehyung.

"It's not your fault, Tae. Whatever he said to make you mad must've been bad. If anything, he should be apologizing. Okay?"

Taehyung nodded into Jin's shirt, sighing softly.

"Okay, Jinie," he muttered quietly.

"V. I told them your past. I hope you're not mad, but they deserve to know if you're gonna stick by them. They need to know your story."

Taehyung nodded meekly, head faced downwards as he played with his fingers.

"Where's... Where's Kookie..? Did he hear it?"

Hoseok let out a heavy sigh, leaning against the wall while he looked towards Jungkook's room.

"He hasn't come out of his room since you passed out. It's been two days."

The Olympian immediately jumped to his feet, stumbling over to the door and gripping the handle weakly.

"K-Kookie? Kookie, you- you have to come out, pl-please, you're gonna hurt yourself being lock-locked in there.."

Only silence answered. Taehyung jiggled the doorknob a little bit more before pressing his forehead against the door.

"Jungkookie... Please open the door... It's- It's me, It's Taehyung. Please, let me see you..."

More silence. All was quiet, and eventually, Hoseok stepped closer, placing a hand on Taehyung's shoulder.

"Taehyung ah, he's not gonna open the door. Just let him be, he'll come out when he's ready."

Hoseok's hand was shaken away.

"N-no! I'm not- I'm not leaving him, I gotta apologize, m-make things right. He's- he's my soulmate, so I- I need him."

Yoongi sighed lightly, and stepped forwards, forcefully moving Taehyung away from the door.

"He needs his space, Taehyung. Just let him take the time he needs. He'll come out soon."

The Olympian only nodded, letting Yoongi guide him back towards the couch. It was silent for a few minutes before the lock on Jungkook's door clicked, and the door opened.

"Tae.... I should be sorry, not you."

The couple met eyes, both filled with tears, but all Taehyung could do was smile sadly.

"It's not your fault, Jungkookie, it's mine."
