บท 40: THE “TORA, TORA, TORA” TRANSMITTER

A few hours later, back to the lab facility.

Jack spent most of his time installing simple solar cell units on the roof. He found this kit on the warehouse as part of general affairs department stocks. Of Course, he could not do it alone.

Puja and Perak also help him. They didn't mind getting sweaty just to make sure these unknown stuff got done. Somehow their sincere touched Jack. Unlike them, Meyrlion spent most the time to watch movies that Jack had promised `Last Samurai movie`.

He ended up getting his eyes teary due the stories. A moment later he was immersed in his gunto-sword practice.

Once the solar cell units installed, Jack connects them into the charge controller part.

This charge controller works at 30A / 12 volt - 24 volt, sufficient to supplying the electrical power into `Tora-Tora-Tora Radio Transmitter` he found before.

This charge controller had another output lines; it should connect to the batteries to store the remaining power.

From these batteries, Jack put another line connecting into the inverters part, which would provide another power supply into home appliances or charging the radio's batteries.

The guard post at the ground and guard tower would have their lamp turn on at the night. This made Puja and Perak feels so excited. Mya and friends were also excited knowing that the home appliances will work and help their works.

Jack installed the second solar cells. This unit is very similar with the previous one, it could provide electrical power up 1800 watt/day with the assumption, they got ten hours sun light.

As for power backup, Jack also installed two wind turbine units at the front yard and two simple hydro turbine units at the closest waterfall.

`Tora-tora-tora Radio Transmitter` originally come from a model of 96 'Ku' Mark 3 Version 2. It was manufactured by Nippon Denki Co.

The transmitter-receiver pair on board was designed for air-to-air, air-to-ground, and air-to-ship application. Originally, There was no record that these radios were ever used on the ground.

The transmitter was powered by a dynamotor to supply high plate voltage from the aircraft's 12 V dc supply, the standard voltage for Japanese military aircrafts at that time.

Its nickname was come from the history of this unit being used in the pearl harbour raid, 1942. This spec designed to cover the range up until 800 miles or 1.300 kilometers, sufficient to reach the Capital City, or moreover Kingdom of Jung Kulon at the west, Kingdom of Jung Geluh at the east.

Bzzz.... !

Soon, after a little tweak and modification, the `Tora-tora-tora Radio Transmitter` were back into life. This ancient relic had also received Meyrlion special treatment, a magical retrofit which is allowing a complex unit back to their most prime condition. Or according Meyrlion himself, a dirty-trick of time manipulation techniques, inspired from Jack's nasty books.

Jack also intends to install the radio transmitter-receiver at the Capital, in Titan's residence only.

As for testing, Jack also installed one unit radio in Titan Family's Eastern Castle include two units of the solar cell, and taught how to operate them into Tyas, Puja, Perak, Mya, Astera and her two friends.

So, there will be three radio stations.

Following Jack's examples, Meyrlion also build a permanent teleportation facility in the lab and castle.

So the transportation need between to place will becomes more smooth and fast. Of course those teleportations spot will be placed at the location where the security were covered strictly. Rhys even put four soldiers to guard this spot.

As for placing a direct teleportation spot on the Capital City, was still not possible due to the distance were too long.

Meyrlion ability to travel using teleportation is limited, up to sixty-five thousand feet or around twenty kilometers.

The distances between Capital City and Eastern Castle were around four hundred thousand feet or around a hundred and twenty kilometers.

After lunch, Jack opened the class about teaching the radio telecommunication procedure. Actually, he just simply retold the materials of a book titled `the radio lingo for dummies`.

He even mixed with his knowledge from various war movies such Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan or Beyond Enemy Line. Sometimes, some scenes from the Tour of Duty TV series even crossed in his mind.

Myerlion, Tyas, Mya, Puja, Perak, Rhys, Astera and her two friends attempt the class excitedly.

"Listen, unlike the normal conversation, radio telecommunication needs rules to abide. Keep in mind the never-ever give you real name on the air."

Everyone nods.

"As for the now I will distributed you call sign. Tyas will be Tango-Yanke-One, you bro will be Mike-Yankee-One, Puja Papa-Union-One, Perak Papa-Echo-One..."

"Remember. Never forget your call sign. Never forget others too."

"Before you press the transmission button, gather your thoughts about what you are going to say. Many people with radios have a tendency to talk and-or repeat too much.

Say what you need to say without unnecessary repeats. Keep in mind that your message should go through the first time – you may not have any opportunity to repeat it.

When you want to start radio exchange, first you must call out the addressee of your message. To notify the addressee about incoming message call him or her twice, giving his or her call sign:

Example, Tango-Yankee-One, Tango-Yankee-One …

Then give your call sign,

Example, this is Juliet-Alpha-One, OVER.

When you expect the other part to answer, finish your portion of the message with a word 'OVER', like in the example before.

If there is a traffic on the air, use 'BREAK, BREAK' to cut into the network. Only in case of higher priority of your message!

Answer each call to confirm reception. Use 'RECEIVED', 'COPY', 'ROMEO' or 'ACKNOWLEDGED.'

When you have understood the message, acknowledge the receipt with the words 'COPY', 'RECEIVED', 'ROGER' or 'ACKNOWLEDGED.' The word 'COPY' is preferred.

If the caller requires some actions you may use 'WILCO' instead of 'ROGER' to notify that you WILL COMPLY or 'WILCO'

If you do not comprehend the message, do not confirm it. Use 'SAY AGAIN', 'REPEAT', 'STAND BY' instead.

It may happen that due to poor transmission or distracting factors some pieces of information should be repeated to avoid misunderstandings. In that case you may request repeat by saying 'I SAY AGAIN.'

Understand ?"

Everyone nods.

"Now, you try now !" Jack said while point his finger at Puja and Perak. Perak nods and then run into teleportation spot. A moment later a buzz sound voiced at the radio receiver in Easter Castle side.

"Bzz... Papa-Echo-One! Papa-Echo-One!... bzz.."

"This is Papa-Union-One, OVER." Puja replied her over the air.

"Bzz.. This is my first message, Papa-Echo-One, OVER.. bzz"

"REPEAT Papa-Echo-One"

"Bzz.. I SAY AGAIN this is my first message, Papa-Echo-One, OVER.. bzz"

"COPY Papa-Echo-One"

"Bzz.. Papa-Echo-One OVER AND OUT"

That class took place with enthusiasm. Everyone were actively participated, even Myerlion and Rhys too.

At the end of class, everyone had a basic skill and understanding about operating the radios.
