"Ah!" Y/N shouted as she stubbed her toe while rushing to brush her hair. Well, she wouldn't be in a hurry if she actually woke up early. She didn't know how much easier she had it when her mother woke her up. And there was no doubt in it, she felt terrible for taking it for granted.
The night before, she wasn't able to sleep properly and felt restless. Half excited as it was the first time she would be attending a school with peers. And half worried for the same. As a result, she went to sleep around four in the morning, and was late on the very first day. Y/N checked her uniform to be sure of taking everything she needed for the day.
She locked her apartment and rushed towards the ninja academy. In all these days, she frequently went out with Iruka and sometimes by herself, either for training purposes or for buying groceries and stuffs, so she got to know the village. Although, she wasn't familiar with all the places, she knew the streets where she could find the items she needed and it was enough for her.
As she arrived, she noticed some people staring at her. Yes, word travels fast and naturally many people knew about how she got into the village. Mostly, because of the Hokage personally taking care of her rent.
Although Y/N was happy here, she didn't bother to tell about herself much, just the amount needed. As much as she wanted to say, she remembered her parents saying not to reveal details when it came to strangers. She didn't find the villagers very welcoming either. Sure, they were nice to her but when she observed their behavior when it came to Naruto, it made her stop getting to know them.
It always managed to surprise her how much hatred they had for a boy whose only fault was to be born with something that he didn't ask for. Well, it wasn't his fault at all. To hate a person for something that they have no control over, was a little bit extreme.
She scoffed watching the parents of the kids and waited outside the academy, as ordered by Iruka, who brought her inside after some time.
"You need to introduce me to the class. I can't do it." Y/N said breaking the silence as they walked towards their class.
"Why not?"
"I'm not used to it. If I could, I would have already made friends and talked with people."
"You're just scared." He smiled.
"Maybe a little bit nervous," Y/N whispered, gulping.
Iruka was about to answer her, but got interrupted by someone--"Iruka! It's Naruto! He has drawn graffiti all over the Hokage's faces!"
"WHAT!" Iruka shouted. Oh, Naruto always kept him on his toes. At times, he had to leave in the middle of their study session for the ruckus the boy caused.
Y/N's eyes widened. The boy was brave but she had no idea that he was brave enough to harm the image of the Hokage. A small part of her though, wanted to see the graffiti. "You can go sensei, I'll wait for you outside," she said. Oh, she just needed to calm her nerves.
"Are you su--"
"Yes," she said leaning on the wall as the others jumped out in search of Naruto. She was pretty excited to meet him. Ofcourse, she often noticed the boy running around in the streets. But she never formally introduced herself. To be fair, he was one restless kid and she was too lazy to run behind him just so that she could introduce herself.
But there has to be something wrong with his attitude if everyone gets annoyed with him right?
[ TIME SKIP ]
Y/N saw two figures walking towards the academy- one was Iruka, who was fuming by the way, and another was the knuckleheaded ninja, Naruto.
Y/N straightened herself as they came near and said, "Well, that was fast."
"Who are you?" Naruto exclaimed as he first laid his eyes on her.
It took her by surprise. Surely, Naruto wasn't living under the rock to not hear about her? "Uh, I'm a new student here Naruto," she said, smiling softly.
Naruto seemed to get a bit shocked to see her smile - to see a genuine smile and not eyes filled with hatred that he received all the time. "How do you know my name?" He asked, suspiciously.
"Uhh...Iruka sensei told me," Y/N quickly said.
"No..I didn't," Iruka said, immediately staring at her face. He couldn't remember a single instance where he mentioned his name instead of calling him 'knucklehead'. A sense of suspicion always loomed over him whenever he taught her. It always felt like she knows about the village and people more than she looks like. For one, she was a complete outsider and stranger. And two, even if she knew about the village, there was no chance for her to know the people here if she was entering this place for the first time.
"Y-You did. You forgot about the time you complained about Naruto running away from the guards the day before," she said. Y/N shouldn't be lying about why she knew such things but she didn't know why something inside of her felt that the moment she said how she knew all this because of her clan and parents, the whole village will turn against her. Almost like she was hiding a crime she committed. Clearing her throat, she continued, "We should go. I am guessing class should've already started by now."
Iruka snapped out of his train of thoughts, "Yes. And Naruto, don't think you'll get spared for this..." he continued scolding him as they entered the class.
"Alright class, settle down." He said, smiling, "This is Y/N L/N and she will be joining from today."
"At the end of the year?" Someone asked, whom Y/N recognized as from the Akimichi clan. The clan symbols that the whole class wore along with their outfit really gave away their identity. She remember how her parents drew on papers roughly to show her during their bedtime stories.
"Yes. She has been homeschooled for a while and she'll join us from today. So be nice to her."
"Isn't she the new girl in the village? The one found in the forest?" Ino asked.
"Yes, I am." Y/N said.
"Alright, you may go to your seat now." Iruka said.
"Thank you, Sensei." Y/N said and walked to the empty row to the right. Naruto also started walking back when Iruka yelled, "Not you Naruto!!"
"I'm at the end of my rope Naruto! You've failed the graduation test last time, and the time before that. Tomorrow you've got another chance, and you're messing up again." Iruka scolded him, as others watched him silently.
"Hm!!" He said turning his head.
"Fine! Because you missed it Naruto, everyone will redo the transformation jutsu!!"
The whole class whined. While Y/N sat there and smiled, knowing it to be the first time she would be showcasing her talent in the class. She rested her face on her hand as a nervous laughter escaped her lips.
They formed a line while Iruka called them one by one. "You need to transform into me. Alright? Okay, Sakura Haruno." Iruka called the first student's name.
"Alright, Sakura here, let's do it!" She made the hand signs and said, "Transform!"
"Transformed into me? Good." Iruka complimented her.
"Yes! I did it!" Sakura started squealing in excitement, "Sasuke did you see that?!"
Y/N looked at the boy Sakura spoke to and gasped. The Uchiha clan. She heard all about how the clan was wiped out except for one kid. Sure, he was...very handsome but nothing that would make her heart flutter or something. If hypothetically speaking, he flirted with her, she wouldn't believe him first of all, and second of all, she won't be all over him just for one thing. There was something wrong with the girls of the class. They squealed as soon as the boy stepped up when Iruka called his name next.
"Next! Sasuke Uchiha!" Iruka called.
He moved forward and transformed quickly and soon walked away silently. He didn't even acknowledge those who wished him good luck. Ah, now that was a bit rude and somehow managed to make Y/N frown.
"Next! Naruto Uzumaki!"
"This is a total waste of time Naruto." Shikamaru commented lazily.
"We always pay for your screw ups." Ino added.
"Like I care." He said.
Y/N sighed, feeling a bit sorry and said, "Good Luck!"
Naruto smiled at her, "I will! Believe it!" and moved forward. The others gave her weird looks when Kiba whispered to her, "Um..Y/N right?"
Y/N nodded and looked at him. "Do you even know everything about him?" He asked.
"I do actually, but I don't think I care." She said, smiling. Spitting venom with a smile on her face wasn't something she was used to but it felt like she would need to use it more from this day on.
Kiba looked a bit offended, so Y/N quickly muttered a sorry and continued watching in silence.
"Transform!" He yelled and turned into a naked blonde girl.
Y/N's eyes widened as she stared at him. There was not once, she heard about this jutsu. Well, not even in all the books Iruka brought for her. Y/N couldn't help but laugh when Naruto laughed, "Gotcha! That's my sexy jutsu!" It was his jutsu, his own jutsu.
Suddenly a sense of envy took over her. A guy who was the same age as her, made a jutsu all on his own while she was still struggling to remember the meanings of certain jutsus.
Iruka yelled, "Cut the stupid tricks! This is your last warning!" Naruto moved aside frowning, when Iruka's frown changed to a smile a moment later, "Next, Y/N L/N."
"Yes sensei." She said and moved forward. She could feel all the eyes on her. Y/N chuckled at her own reaction. She was just thinking how Sasuke was rude and now she understood why. A sudden yell made her snap out of her thoughts, "I know you can do it! Believe it!!"
"Thanks." Y/N smiled at Naruto. She then turned towards Iruka and sighed closing her eyes. She couldn't screw this up. Iruka's expression was enough for her to understand that he was looking forward to the result.
"Alright then," Y/N said opening her eyes, "Transform!"
