I could follow him, but Ellis was here, and my soul had a helpless way of clinging to only him whenever we occupied the same room. I hated it. How dependent I'd grown to be on him.
Ellis dropped his gaze to the floor, curious wrinkles between his dark brows as though he couldn't fathom why Reyin would be pissed at the world right now. Then those contemplating eyes came to me, and Ellis' expression changed. A genuine smile tugged at his lips, delighted enough to make me nauseous.
I worked my tense jaw and crossed my arms, narrowing my gaze at him. "You lied to me."
