บท 17: Jasmine
<Jace's Point of View>
When Jaxen comes home, I'll make sure he's battered in my hands. Shit. He shouldn't have told Tamara like a kindergartner. Her mentality is indeed that of a child even though she is already sixteen years old. Was Joseph really not able to build his mental well? It seems that he needs to be given a bit of harsh guidance. Among The Bryants, I think Jaxen is the only one who can't be relied on.
As usual, when she met me, Jasmine, my older sister, would give a strange look as if she had just discovered that I was killing someone. She walked with graceful movements, sitting on the sofa still followed by her fixed gaze on me. Her slender legs crossed were like that of a noble girl.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I sneered at Jasmine.
"Before it's too late, I want to warn you again, can you just disobey Jo's orders for once? I'm tired of redeeming you to get out of prison."
I smirked in response to her chatter. "Why do you care so much? Look, Mom and Dad just never cared. If you're tired of spending money to get me out of jail, you better keep the money. As usual, you donate to a charity and leave me in jail. How?"
"What a selfish," she sighed. "If I didn't care about you, I would have done that from the start. You're my brother, Jace. I'm your sister. Where is your respect, hm?"
"Talk like that in front of Jaxen too, not in front of me."
Jasmine's lips moved to answer, but only one sentence left her mouth after hearing car horns honking repeatedly in front of the house. That's Joseph. And when Jasmine was confronted by my eldest cousin, the atmosphere in this house suddenly changed to that of a guerrilla war. If only Jasmine wasn't his cousin, Joseph happily pulled the trigger of his Beretta gun at Jasmine's head.
"Isn't there just one person willing to open the gate?" Jasmine grumbled rolling her eyes in disgust. "It must be Joseph." Snorting in annoyance, Jasmine stomped her way out of the living room towards the exit.
For the umpteenth time, I looked at my watch to make sure when Jaxen came home and I could hit his face with the table. If he wasn't home by this afternoon, it meant he was busy messing with the highway with his motorcycle gang or looking for girls to sleep with.
My feet stopped walking listening to the faint sound of the piano. The corners of my eyes moved to the source of the soft voice. I closed my eyes for a moment, just listening to the song Til The End – Vadim Kiselev which was played with all my heart by someone next to my house. This song, a song I often play, is also often played by a girl who lives next door to me. My eyelids opened realizing that the soft sound had disappeared. I blinked a few times, trying to get back into my world. Trying hard to shake off the angel's shadow, I entered the room, getting ready to leave again.
The bedroom window across from mine was open—the blinds were pulled back to reveal a sweet atmosphere in the room, with pink-painted walls and utensils not far from feminine. From the corner of my eye glanced towards the room. I haven't seen the face of my wingless angel in that room in a long time. Every time I saw her, she would look away and close the window.
Not distracting, I took off my shirt. There was no sign of her in the room yet. Just as I was about to put on another t-shirt, a girl with long hair appeared. Her face looked surprised to see me standing shirtless looking at her. She didn't close the blinds in her room as usual when she saw me. She quickly grabbed something from her study table, then walked away without paying attention to my eyes. Do you hate me that much, Kathleen?
