When she realized Vy was suggesting Sierra to attempt it, in hopes of boosting her abilities, Roxine begged her to reconsider. 

"There are other ways to work around this. Sierra, if you can't control it, you could lose yourself. Forever," Roxine warned. 

But Sierra did not care for her own safety. Not when Alistair's life was on the line. She was going to take every opportunity afforded to her. 

Vy was well aware of the consequences too. 

"I would not have suggested this, knowing the potential consequences, without having a solution in mind," she explained, "Sierra is a great candidate for this. Especially since she'd already had experience with one of the abilities. There's one more thing that should help."
