บท 26: Demi-God Fight

Not a moment passed before the Goddess found herself gasping for breath, her celestial composure shattered by Azkaal's relentless onslaught. Across the battlefield, he danced through the chaos, deftly teleporting and sidestepping the magical barrages she hurled at him, all the while raining down a fiery inferno from his enchanted blade.

Mocking laughter echoed through the tumultuous clash. "You dare call yourself a God?" Azkaal taunted, his broken sword crashing against the divine shield, sending her sprawling to the ground. With an immense hand wreathed in a sun-like fireball, he descended upon her fallen form.

[Teleport]

Swiftly, she eluded the impending strike by materializing high in the sky. "Do you believe you can escape me?" Azkaal's voice echoed menacingly, and she turned to see him behind her. Another crash, another impact, as the demon's laughter resonated through the air.

Azkaal's colossal figure descended like a meteor, his shattered sword penetrating her magical defenses, impaling her upon the unforgiving ground. A cry of agony erupted from the Goddess as Azkaal's fiery blade seared through her robes and flesh alike. Retrieving his sword, he unleashed a torrent of strikes, impaling her repeatedly before she could mount a defense.

"Puny god!" Azkaal bellowed triumphantly, continuing his onslaught until only a mangled form remained on the ground, a mere fragment of her former divine self. Fire erupted around him as he expressed his discontent. "I sought a battle, and this is all I get?"

"Do not think that killing me will defeat me," the resilient voice of the Goddess persisted, and to Azkaal's astonishment, her unscathed form rose from the ground. In an instant, he teleported behind her, unleashing a tempest of flames.

"You'll burn!"

"How primitive," Nia'tala retorted casually. Azkaal found himself encased within an enormous cube of water, his feral grin visible despite the aquatic prison.

In the blink of an eye, a crimson radiance enveloped Azkaal's form, and the imposing cube of water was reduced to vapor. Swiftly, the demon teleported behind the spellcaster, enclosing her within the grip of his massive hand.

"Try dodging this!" he roared, setting his hand ablaze. The searing flames consumed her body, reducing it to a charred crisp. Yet, despite the apparent demise, her form regenerated from nothingness.

Azkaal clenched his teeth in frustration. In a sudden, brutal motion, he squeezed her within his grasp, her body crushed beneath the pressure, blood streaming from his palm.

Her form seamlessly teleported from his grasp, unscathed, and the resolute red elf gazed down upon Azkaal with an air of defiance. "You'll regret ever attacking me," she declared, her tone icy. Above her, a magnificent meteor crafted from crystalline ice materialized and hurtled towards the Prince of Hate.

"HAHAHAHAH, I've slain far mightier than you, girl. Don't be so arrogant with your little time manipulation spell!" the demon retorted, vanishing and reappearing above the frigid celestial projectile. With a swift motion, he cleaved the icy mass in half, setting the separated pieces ablaze and reducing them to nothing.

"You're just above average in terms of power. Don't flatter yourself," Azkaal proclaimed with a mocking tone, his laughter echoing through the battlefield.

Undeterred, the red elf narrowed her eyes at Azkaal, her resilience undiminished. With a graceful gesture, she summoned a swirling vortex of time around her, distorting reality itself. As Azkaal prepared for his next move, the very fabric of the battlefield seemed to warp and twist.

"Impressive parlor tricks," scoffed the demon, but his amusement was short-lived. Suddenly, time accelerated around Azkaal, his movements slowed to a crawl. The red elf seized the advantage, swiftly conjuring a barrage of enchanted arrows that hung in the air like frozen specters.

With a snap of her fingers, time resumed its normal flow. The arrows streaked towards Azkaal, who, caught off guard, attempted to evade. However, the ethereal projectiles tracked him unrelentingly, piercing through his defenses and leaving trails of frost in their wake.

Azkaal grimaced, his arrogance fading. Regaining his composure, he unleashed a torrent of hellfire, attempting to incinerate the persistent red elf. Yet, with another flick of her wrist, she created a shield of shimmering temporal energy, deflecting the searing flames effortlessly.

"You underestimate me, Prince of Hate," she retorted, her eyes ablaze with determination. In response, Azkaal roared, summoning dark tendrils of shadow to ensnare her. Undeterred, the red elf countered with a wave of her hand, dispersing the shadows like mist.

"Pitiful attempt," Azkaal sneered with disdain as his magical energy surged, restoring normalcy to the flow of time. The red elf's intricate manipulation seemed to unravel before the overwhelming power of the Prince of Hate.

"You can manipulate time too?" the goddess questioned, astonishment reflecting in her eyes.

"Manipulate time?" Azkaal chuckled darkly. "No, I just erased your feeble magic with pure Chaos!"

His arrogance radiating like a malevolent aura, Azkaal prepared for the next phase of the battle. Undeterred by the setback, the red elf met his disdainful gaze with steely determination.

With a scornful grin, Azkaal unleashed a tempest of chaotic energy, shattering the temporal enchantments that lingered around them. The battlefield quivered with the unleashed power of raw chaos, disrupting the delicate balance of magic woven by the red elf.

"Your tricks won't save you, little goddess," Azkaal declared, his voice echoing through the tumultuous maelstrom of magical forces. In response, the red elf raised her hands, conjuring a protective barrier against the chaotic onslaught.

For a moment, the two opposing powers clashed, the very fabric of reality warping and contorting. Yet, Azkaal's arrogance remained unyielding, dismissing the goddess's efforts as insignificant.

As the chaotic energies surged, Azkaal pressed forward, his eyes ablaze with contempt. "You thought you could challenge a force like me? How amusing," he taunted, his confidence unwavering.

"Etch this in your soul, puny god. I am Sheogh, hatred personified!" Azkaal's blade cleaved through the goddess, and this time, a look of genuine fear widened her eyes as Chaos magic assailed her from all directions. "Disappear from this reality!"

"No!" she cried out, unleashing a burst of mana that rippled through the fabric of time. As her body began to dissolve, a desperate incantation echoed.

[Anchor]

Lucas's voice resonated, and with a sudden twist in reality, the goddess's form rematerialized. Azkaal turned his demonic grin toward the human, unfazed by the interruption. In a swift motion, he impaled the goddess in the torso, flinging her toward Lucas.

The goddess's body, with only a minor cut from Azkaal's blade, collided with the wall near Lucas.

"Good eyesight, king of monkeys," the guttural voice of the Prince of Hatred resonated as his colossal figure materialized beside Lucas.

"She is controlled," the king retorted, placing his hand above the goddess's head. Yet, he hesitated and reached for a pendant that had accompanied him since the first day in this world.

[Pendant of Holiness]

[Dispel all curses for the wearer and his army]

Lucas swiftly placed the pendant around the goddess's neck. However, her body convulsed violently, and an unsettling force emerged, slipping into Lucas.

"Your body is mine!" echoed a grotesque voice as a malevolent soul, resembling a blend of cheetah and wolf, infiltrated Lucas's being.

The goddess's body had proven challenging to control. Her race, ancient enemies of the Xanatos Empire, possessed formidable magical abilities and time manipulation skills that threatened the Grand Plan of Life. In response, the Life Lords had utilized their magic to create a new species on this world—the Xanatoses or Lizard Men. Engineered with genetic resilience against time magic, they were intended to eradicate the formidable threat posed by the goddess's kind.

The titans and Void Lords were already a source of consternation, and a race that could rival them in the span of thousands of years posed a threat deemed intolerable by Life. To counter this, they dispatched a demi-god mental parasite, a cunning entity, to infiltrate and manipulate the ruler of the Latianalas Empire—the 'Goddess' of magic, Nia'tala. The plan succeeded, and from within, the parasite orchestrated the downfall of their empire, while the newly created Xanatoses devastated them from the outside. He reveled in the beauty of Nia'tala's form, her powers now his and his alone, her daughter was just something that he wanted to test, a hybrid between a strong Xanatose and a Latiana, she was strong but not nearly as strong as her mother.

However, an ominous shift occurred in the world during the last year. An indescribable unease unsettled the parasite, a vague threat looming on the horizon. Soon, peculiar races emerged, challenging the Xanatoses and their thralls. The Life Lords wished the Xanatoses to survive, envisioning the potential creation of a powerful demi-god from the harvested Life Force of an entire species.

Attempts to warn the Life Lords proved futile; a mysterious Veil enveloped the world, severing all communication with the outside. The parasite, poised to seize this strange opportunity, would never finish his thought.

"Who do we have here, my shining son?" a voice resonated, sending shivers down the parasite's incorporeal form. As he surveyed his surroundings, an enormous red dragon, Urgash, and a stoic golden dragon, Elrath, confronted him.

"Urgash, this insect thinks he can claim our blessed soul," Elrath remarked with disinterest.

"Let's just kill him," Urgash declared, opening his maw.

"Do you know who I am? I am Kury-" The parasite's words were cut short as a torrent of pure Chaos magic obliterated him from existence.

"Did he say something?" Urgash inquired of Elrath.

"Just the squealing of a dead insect," Elrath replied, disappearing into golden light.

"Daughter, speak to me! Your brother left me alone!" Urgash cried out, only to witness the disappearance of the blue glint. "I truly created a bunch of traitors," he whimpered as the Dragon God of Chaos faded away as well.

Lucas gazed at the enchanting elf, feeling the sudden absence of the foreign soul, and sensed her body pulsating with pure magic. In his two lives, she stood out as the most beautiful woman he had ever encountered, her red skin emitted a dangerous glint while her face was nothing short of perfect.

"Smithen?" Zakera's mocking voice drifted towards the king as she approached. Meanwhile, Azkaal unleashed destruction upon the legion of Lizard Men, reveling in the chaos.

Lucas met Zakera's gaze with a smile, chuckling, "How could you not be captivated by someone like her?"

"Oh?" she playfully replied with a smile.

"I will not elaborate on the subject," he swiftly cut her off, creating a cocoon of light that enveloped her, mending her injuries. Then, with a thought, he teleported her into one of the tents below Falcon's Gate.
