Rex had his turn, and it confirmed the rumors going around the school. His passive was dragonborn. This meant that levels gave him more stats, he would have access to stronger classes, and most importantly would get an extremely powerful active ability. Rex had gotten the dragonborn spear. A spear that would grow with him that started as a lower common weapon but could ascend past legendaries and high class artifacts, even becoming one when he died.
Artifacts couldnt be created or grow, but had immense power from the other worlds or powerful beings when they fell. His spear looked to be made of bone with a scaly pattern on its hilt and a red and black tip. It was quite large standing almost 7 feet tall.
Level one and two were obliterated in one slash, and level three only took two. He still had not used any mana, and did not seem to struggle at all. Level four took a little bit more, it had empowered its blade so it was at a level that at least could hurt him. Even if it could, it didn't as an empowered dragonspear right through the chest killed it in an instant.
The fifth level still had not been passed yet this year, but he seemed to have a chance unlike the rest of the challengers so far. Its stats were all at 80 and it not only had a sword, but also had basic spell casting abilities. It sent out a fireball, but it was completely desperst on Rex's skin as being a dragonborn made magic weak and fire weaker. It didn't leave a scratch on his armor as he lunged forward attempting to impale it like he did the last one. It was able to redirect the attack into the ground, but before it could counter attack Rex already did a full 360 slashing the tip into its head. It was damaged but took the opportunity to thrust its blade into his chest. They both jumped away to recover their balance, before lunging again.
This time was different, instead of stabbing, Rex threw his spear now coated in fire directly at the golem. It pierced it and shot it back into the wall, pinning it there for a few seconds before it pulled the spear out and threw it right back. Rex used his ability to de-materialize it and have it reappear in his hand to prevent himself from being hit. But he couldn't defend for too much longer, he had an insane amount of mana regeneration from his passive at the cost of total pool and he had used it all on throwing that spear, so he was also hit out by the level five robot.
Jake had done well, but was overshadowed by the monsters that had gone before and after him. He probably couldn't get in a group with them, but knowing that they were in his same campus area was reassuring as the freshmen there wouldn't be messed with. Nobody else super interesting came in until a necromancer that made it to level 4 before her summons were overpowered by it. The next interesting one was a priestess of a dark god, so her spells would damage the undead and heal the living. Unfortunately for her she couldn't do much against a construct, so she displayed her abilities on herself before being taken out in round two. Another hundred and fifty students came and went with varying levels of strength. Jake talked to the necromancer(Jaylen) and dark priestess(Rebeeca) hoping to get in a group with them, but they wanted to wait before they made a choice. This was understandable as waiting gave them more options, but they both exchanged numbers with him so they could easily find each other later. It was already almost two in the morning and seeing as how they started five they started running multiple matches at once later in the day to meet the need for 200 students. Jake was pretty tired from the fight, even after all the time he had to sit and rest he was paying attention to the matches to sleep or relax.
They also didn't give the students a lunch break, so everyone was starving, and the older years were watching and made a nice feast for the first years as they all did the battles today. Attention was all on Lilly and Rex, as they were both stars of today's show. James broke out his rare ingredients for the special event, hoping that one of them would have their group move into the room. He served everyone braised golden pulled pork. Golden pigs are weak, but rare creatures known for giving stats no matter how they were prepared. That being said when they were prepared well they gave an increase to the highest stat of whoever ate it.
[Magic +20 →+10](Only 50% effective due to low level)(24 Hours)
This would have been a lot more useful before the test, but everyone was thankful nonetheless. On top of the stats it was absolutely amazing in taste, and it really tied the day together. It was overall a really good day and he immediately went to bed after the meal. He made sure to be friendly with everyone as having strong connections was almost as good as being strong yourself. He sat in bed, but was having trouble sleeping. He didn't have any metal left, so he couldn't make anything and sleeping felt like it wouldn't come until he made something. He entered his dimension and grabbed the two fire gems. They had no cut and were just raw gems without any sort of rime or reason. This made it really hard to engrave well and place them inside the jewelry. He had to know what his gem looked like exactly, on top of that if he never had cut gems then he couldn't ever make blueprints. Without blueprints he couldn't make a full shop.
