บท 1: The heartbreak

The leaves were blown from trees in clouds , and the rooks shrieked as they were tossed on wind. The university was on an exposed rise of hill and took the worst of the winter. Twigs rattled on the roof of Svetlana's Volvo XC90 as she was waiting for her younger sister Lucia outside the university which she hardly does this days because of her busy schedule at work. She is the owner of Philips pharmaceutical Company.

Lucia hi," shouted Svetlana, she was surprised to see who was calling. She approached her sisters vehicle, they hugged, she asked what's up in a surprise.

'Can't an elder sister just come pick her younger sister anymore.' Svetlana said

Lucia didn't believe her. So she just went straight to the point.

'Mika didn't show up for our lunch date , he isn't picking my calls. He sent the hotel owner to break up with me on his behalf. So i wanted you to go at his usual spot where he hangs out with his friends and let me know if he is there. I want him to say it to my face that he does not want me anymore.'

'Since its seems important and for closure, i will go and check.' Replied Lucia

They went straight to club Mirage, it's an elite club for the rich and famous people located in the suburban area of Limerick, Munster. When they arrived Svetlana waited outside as Lucia went in.

One inside Lucia went to the restaurant area and ordered a cold soda. She turned her back to see if Mika was at the crowded space at the back but he wasn't.

Outside Svetlana was getting impatient Lucia was taking too long to call her back, then she decided to go in herself to see whats taking her too long.

Upon entering she saw Lucia chatting with the bartender.

'Whats taking you so long.' Svetlana asked

'Nothing, I haven't seen him yet.' Lucia answered.

Then an idea crept to her mind and asked her sister .

'Do you still have Mika's pictures on your phone?'

'Yes i do.' Svetlana replied.

Taking out her phone from her purse and searched for Mika's photo. Lucia grabbed the phone and showed the bartender.

'By any chance have you seen this guy today?' Asked Lucia.

Yes and he is at the private cube with some guys now. Svetlana asked which one, he pointed out the third one.

As she was heading to the third cube , the bartender said to Lucia i hope all is well i do not want any trouble i need this job. Lucia just nodded.

Svetlana approached the cube and entered Lucia was right behind her, Mika was with three other guys and four girls. They had paired up.

Svetlana took a deep breath while approaching where Mika was seated.

'I see you have already moved on.' Svetlana's squinting gaze focused on him kindly. Mika , faced with the impossibility of making a suitable reply, looked away.

Svetlana turned to the woman next to him.

'We were together for six months, chatting, long night calls ,going out, making plans then abruptly he breaks up with me through his friend , he can't face me as a gentle man and say it to my face.'

The girl stood up and walked away and one of his friend got out to call the security and Lucia followed him.

Mika told Svetlana gently 'do not make a scene, let's go out and talk calmly.'

She refused and said why didn't you do that in the first place. Then he got upset after hearing her response.

He looked at her full in the face. 'I can't date someone with a child, and expected me to play the father role.'

"That day during their lunch date Mika arrived and Svetlana with her son at the table , she had no one to leave her son with so he had to come along. Mika had the boy call Svetlana "Mum" he panicked and hid at the pillar of the hotel behind them. Then the hotel owner Recce, his friend from university, saw him and approached him to enquire why he wasn't approaching his date but hiding and listening to their conversation. Mika dragged Recce out of there and told him i can't join them. Recce asked, why?

' I can't dated someone with a child, go inform her am not coming any longer and she should never call me again.' Replied Mika.

Taken aback, Recce stammered, 'No, no, I won't be apart of this,' But Mika did not give him a chance to refuse and left.

Recce said dispassionately, "You haven't changed a bit since university, always cleaning your mess up."

Recce called the waiter who served Svetlana and her son and asked what did they order , she replied approached ,"double espresso macchiato and a milkshake. It's on the house and bring another round of the same and an espresso latte for me.

He approached Svetlana to her table and sat down. He greeted them and called her aside and told her what Mika said. She was out of words for her son's sake she did not want to cause a scene.

She picked his bag and told kith let's go home meanwhile Mika was at the far end peeping looking at the whole ordeal.

***Back at the club scene***

" Svetlana punched Mika on the face. The security guard took her and Lucia out of the club Mirage. The guys with Mika Laughed at him.

Svetlana was upset, Mika didn't want her anymore because she had a son. She adored her son very much. And he had already started seeing someone else. The thought of that made her feel stressed. She told Lucia to take her son from school and go with him to their mother's place. She needed some time alone.

'Give me two tequila shot.' Svetlana ordered at the restaurant near her company.

Their were two guys seated at the other end of the bar. One of them was Recce they had not noticed each other yet. She ordered another two shots of tequila, she was too consumed in her thought about the events that have been happening to her from a couple of days .

She didn't notice Recce approaching her.
