"Father Iñaki, a man asks for you at the reception."
The Bishop felt a sudden dizziness, a product of stress.
"Do you know who is he?"
"Bernal, he has a Central American look."
“Show him in and have him wait for me in the meeting room. Let no one come to disturb. "
"Do you want me to bring you some coffees?"
"No, nothing like that."
When de Mendizabal entered the room the man was standing in front of the door, waiting for him. He was a short man with a massive physique and strong appearance. The mere sight of him produced fear, particularly in a coward like Iñaki.
The man called Bernal was the first to speak.
"Did His Most Reverend Eminence explain to you the reason for my visit?"
Iñaki actually preferred this direct and somewhat rude treatment because he had no desire to be friendly with the repulsive subject, he replied.
"Yes."
"Can i sit? I come from far away. " Bernal asked.
"Actually, I'd rather not, to keep this meeting as short as possible."
