Feeling impatient with the sort of hide-and-seek game, Canillas reached out his hands to gently pinch Joanna's chin, which made her unable to shift her head.

"Are you crying?" Canillas asked once he got to see his wife's face clearly.

Shifting her head slightly to the side and her hand gently pushing away the hand that made her unable to hide her face anymore, Joanna shook her head once she was freed, as the General did not force her to stay still this time.

"No, I am not," Joanna answered in a voice barely above the whisper without looking at the General, as she still avoided showing her face that was already revealed to him.

"There is nothing to worry about, Joanna. I have taken care of them. So, you are safe now," Canillas assured in a low voice, looking down at her.
