Guan Nan knelt in silence and performed the prostration of worship.

The night wind was cool, and Guan Nan, bare-chested, set out covered in scriptures to find his teacher, the Abbot.

Jinguang Temple was exceptionally quiet tonight, and Guan Nan encountered no obstacles on his way.

The door to the Abbot's meditation room was wide open, and in the moonlight, Guan Nan saw a large pool of blood at the doorway.

He pushed the door open, and as it creaked, something was suddenly thrown at him.

Guan Nan instinctively raised his hand to block it. The object was hot, soft, and damp and after hitting his arm, it bounced away.

Looking down, Guan Nan was shocked to find it was a severed intestine.

He jumped in fright and looked into the room, only to see a person lying on the floor with their stomach gouged open.

A seven- or eight-year-old child was trying to escape through the window.

In the moonlight, her skin was as white as paper, and her short, plump hands were covered in blood.
