Walther also managed to persuade his comrades in Oostven to open up to Katie. They are kind, friendly, and understanding towards Katie, but the girl avoided him and never smiled. Katie only let the women approach her, which Walther could understand.

They remained acts friendly but did not do anything the girl doesn't like. They treat Katie like a member of their family. Because their average age was above thirty, they considered Katie like their little sister.
