"We should head towards the fire station."
"Are you sure Paul? Shouldn't we go to the police station instead?"
"Theoretical speaking, you aren't wrong, Ellen and we should go there first, but I think that the fire station should be safer than the police station. People will try to find the police and that place may be filled with walkers or God knows what we could find there. Walkers are the least of our worries if you think for a second, after all we humans are the worst when shit the fan. "
"That's a solid argument, but I still think that the police would be a better place to go."
"I don't want to interfere, but we should be moving quickly. The zombies would find us if we stay here." I said while looking anxious.
And just as I said that the doctor, Miss Gale back up my suggestion:
"The boy has a point. We can't stay on the fire exit and hope the infected won't discover us."
"Alright then. We will leave this place. "
After our short talk, we begin to sneak out of the hospital leaving Rick behind. The parking lot was almost empty of any walker. Two walkers were walking back and forth while the rest should be locked inside the entrance zone.
Seeing that we had to deal with just the two zombies, I decided to pick the left one while Paul would take the other one. I took the knife that Paul gift it to me and slowly approach the zombie. When I was behind, I aimed the knife at this head and with a quick and swift attack, the zombie hit the ground dead. Looking at Paul, I saw him cleaning his knife while his target was lying dead near him.
Now that we cleared the parking lot, we begin to check the cars for one that may still work. After half an hour of failing to find a workable car, we managed to find a Ford Pickup truck that works. We load the trunk with five backpacks full of medical supplies and one filled with food and water that we somehow found in the hospital. Gale decided to drive and seeing that Ellen was really a fighter, she would be with her inside the truck, while I and Paul would take the trunk.
The journey was rather peaceful if you don't mind the occasional zombies that would be walking aimlessly around the town.
The roads weren't that clear as we thought so we had to do some detours to arrive at the fire station, but after two hours of painfully drive through a car graveyard and avoiding any group big to become a threat to our lives, we finally arrived at our destination.
The fire station seemed rather empty from the outside, but as we can't be too sure of that, Paul and I decided to check the building while the girls would remain in the truck.
Paul took the lead while I followed behind him. As we enter the building, we begin to hear some growls from inside. With a simple nod from Paul, I know that we should stay together and cover all of our flanks.
We slowly advance through the building, killing any zombie that we stumble across. After twenty minutes of slowly clearing the building of any zombies, we gave the green light to the girls to drive the car inside. Fortunately for us, the parking place inside the fire station was empty, which means that we can park our truck there and keep it safe from any scavenger .
After another painful hour of carrying the bodies outside, we finally cleared the place of any bodies.
Now that the place was cleaned up, we begin to search the building for anything that may help us in our current situation.
While we search the place we found one fire ax and some food, unfortunately for me, I didn't found any firefighter gear that could help me resisting to some degree the bite of a zombie.
With the place cleared of any useful thing and no zombies left alive if we could call them like that in the first place, we decided to sleep as we would need the energy for the next day.
Paul decided to take the first watch while I'll take the second one, followed by Gale and finally Ellen. One watch would take two hours so that we can get at least 6 hours of sleep each.
The night passed without any incidents other than the growls coming from the zombies that were close to the fire station.
The next day, Paul decided to clear the surroundings of any zombie, while I and the girls would scavenge around us for anything that would help us.
Now that I have an ax, I can finally take down zombies easier and safer than using a knife and risk closing the distance which would increase the chance of me getting bitten by a zombie.
Paul did an excellent job of taking care of the zombies, so we didn't have to fight a big group. Well, we had some fights with some zombies that remained inside the houses, but nothing that I couldn't take care of.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Rick Grimes woke up. He was just like Eric, confused and weak because of his wound, while his wound hasn't as bad as Eric's wound, a gun wound, would do its share of damage to a human body.
After he managed to get himself up, Rick exited his room. When he exited the room and ended in the hallway, he was shocked by how silent the whole place was, but as he walked, he heard some noises from a locked door.
Arriving at the door, he saw the message written on the door which said: "Dead inside! Don't Open". He wasn't sure of what the message meant, but when he looked through the door crack, he saw a female face that looked like a dead person's face. He was shocked and slightly stunned by that sight. After he managed to regain his composure, Rick dragged his weak body towards the fire exit.
Outside, he saw the bodies that were pilled or waiting to be loaded into the military trucks that were left behind, either of being defective or just simply weren't necessary.
Without thinking too much about the sight, Rick continues his journey towards his house to find his family and hopefully find some answers to what happened while he was in a coma.
When he arrived in the town, Rick didn't saw anyone which was a little strange from his point of view, but his goal of finding his family was the first on his list of worries.
As he walked towards his home, he stumbles across a zombie that was missing half of his body. He was shocked by the sight of that human body and fall on the grass but managed to quickly get up and away from the moving torso.
Arriving at his home, he didn't expect the house to be empty and begin to fear the worse, but the fact that their photo albums were missing gave him a slight hope that maybe his family was still alive.
Now that he didn't find his family, Rick decided to go and search for them, but as he walked searching for his family, he was hit by a kid with a baseball bat. As he lost consciousness, Rick saw a boy and a man looking at him before he falls unconscious.
