"Sir, the information was really vague. The only thing that we know for sure is that the bunker was built somewhere close to our current location"
"Think about it, bunkers are usually built in a hill as it will be easier than building it on a flat surface, but this forest doesn't have any hills big enough to hold the entrance of a bunker."
"Sir, I may or may not found a possible location. Do you remember the camping ground? And how clean the whole place was? We didn't see any bumps or denivelation? That is very strange even for a camping ground. My guess is, that underneath the camping zone is the entrance camouflage as dirt. The only problem would be opening it."
"That's a good point you brought up mate. You have some good eyes there, when the rest of our people come here you should speak with Jon. You have the potential to become a sniper, don't waste this opportunity mate. By the way, do you know where the radio station is? Maybe we will be able to use it and contact the Station."
"Sure thing, sir. The radio station is on the second floor. You will easily see it. If that's all you want to tell me, I would like to excuse myself."
"No problem soldier. Go do your thing."
After dismissing him, I decided to see if the guys managed to start the generators of this place.
Walking into the warehouse's basement, I saw four guys trying to start the huge generator. Having a generator was a good thing, but the cost of running this thing will surely put a heavy toll on our fuel supply.
"How's it going boys?"
"Boss! Bad, we don't know how to start this thing. We tried everything, but we didn't manage to start it. The buttons don't do shit neither the lever."
"I'm not even going to argue with you, four idiots. Do see that big red button on the wall?"
"Yes, sir!"
"And do you know how to read the sign that's above the button?"
"Yes, sir!"
"Then how in the name of All-Father, do you four idiots didnt think of checking the whole room?"
"We saw the control panel and thought that this will start the generator."
"*Sigh*Fine, just start it and be careful, I'm going to contact the station."
After contacting the Station, I informed Andrew that we found the place and what it is actually. Andrew was happy that I was able to find a place to call our home, a better place far away from the main roads and hidden from the prying eyes of the greedy survivors. We talked for two hours about how should we transport our people to our new base and the easiest method was using multiple convoys over the course of a couple of days.
The first convoy would leave tomorrow and one team will wait for them near the entrance to the refuge.
One convoy would have two cars with people and two trucks with supplies. While one convoy will only bring 10 to 12 people once, we will be able to bring everyone in one week. Of course, there may be variables like raiders or zombies that would make the journey longer or bloodier, but I hope that we will be able to have everyone brought here safe and alive by the end of the weekend.
Another thing that I discussed with Andrew was our approach to the bunker problem. The first logical thing we should do will be clearing the camping ground of corpses and useful things, and after that, we will start searching for that bunker.
The last thing that Andrew told me was the fact that the group that we send to Macon had managed to safely get the helicopter on a truck and they were ready to drive back home, but now that we managed to secure the outpost, Andrew decided to send them here as it will be quicker and even if they return to the station, they would have to bring the chopper here anyways.
Four hours later, Ace, Lee, and their team arrived at our new home. The helicopter looked really bad with a big hole in the back and multiple missing parts here and there. This will surely be along with a project for Andrew. After I treated Ace, Lee, and their men with a meal, I gathered all of our guys. It was time for the spring cleaning.
"I want to create two teams for this mission. One will remain here and guard the place while the other one will come with me to the camping ground where we will take everything that we could use back home while the corpses and the junk will be burned away if possible."
"Eric, we should create another team or squad that will gather information about our surroundings. We need to know what the forest has to offer us. What animals are living here, what plants are growing, and if there are any zombies or humans living near us."
"That's a good idea Ace and as you are so excited about gathering information for us, I will name you the leader of this special squad. Gather four men and start your mission."
"Sometimes I have the urge to punch you, but then I remember that you can fight a volatile on your own."
"You are free to try, but now that you mention it, we didn't saw any volatile for some time ."
"Maybe there aren't any volatile left? Or they are somewhere else. Maybe they are gathering somewhere or someone is gathering them for something."
"Another pain in the ass that will surely come and bite us in the future, but that a problem for the future. For now, we should deal with our immediate problems."
"I agree with you here, well I'll leave now, see you later or tomorrow morning."
"Good luck and stay safe, we need you alive. Same thing for you guys. I don't want to lose anyone. You guys are the only thing that made me go through my breakdown and right now I need you all to keep the order in our community."
