What the Hell Dad!!
Demon Lord rambunctious: "Listen, son! You will be the new Demon Lord and TAKE OVER THE WORLD!"
The joyest attitude didn't go all around as the Demon Lord's son was in outrage over this new pressure.
Nylelith: "Hell No! You couldn't even take the world how am I supposed to!"
Demon Lord: "I have faith in you my son, and if you were to fail, you will be dead anyway *wheezes!"
The Demon Lord slams his fist in a fit of laughter, smacking his ginormous knee as he sat on his mountain-sized throne. Nylelith stood before him, an ant compared to him, (I feel sorry for his mother) they shared nothing. His father sadistic behavior matched the hot red skin of a demon, his son shared none of his looks, with grey skin like ash from a volcano paired with long white hair that ran down his back. His father showed compassion in being a demon lord, embracing his body as much as he could (He was mostly naked) with a beard of fire and a large piece of cloth to cover his genitals.
Demon Lord with a voice on loud: "Your mother would be proud! *whispers to himself, 'if I can find her'."
Nylelith: "Dad you are a dick, goodbye."
Nylelith stormed out of the throne room, his armor clanked as he went, metal chains wrapped around his shoulders as embers burned from his dark coal armor. The castle resides in hell, at the base of it sits the king of hell itself, the Demon Lord, and his offspring, Nylelith. One of the massive towers held Nylelith's sleeping chambers while others held other demons of high ranking. Kicking the door open to his grand room filled to the brim with an assortment of items from small rings to a giant scroll hanging on the wall. The exhausted demon sat on his bed holding his face in stress.
Nylelith sighs sitting up: "I hate fighting, god why! The only reason I know how to fight is to get that big oaf off my back but that is probably what lead him to make me his successor."
The grey eyes of a demon lord glowed brightly, only he and his father can have them, only those who are born to be the ruler are marked with those eyes while those of lower origins can become kings and queens but will be faced with intellect problems; can be completely outclassed in all test of wits and strength. Nylelith couldn't help but pace around in his room holding his chiseled chin. The thought of killing humans felt wrong, what purpose would it be to just kill them when they brought no harm to demons.
Nylelith: "I envy humans, free to do whatever they want in a vast world filled with remarkable people and places."
Picking a book out of his shelf 'human world' it read, flipping through it until stopping on a page in the hundreds.
Nylelith: "The only knowledge I know of human nature comes from these books which are rather a bias description of them seeming that it was written by a demon warmonger thinking everyone else was puny scum that should lick his boots."
Reading a passage 'humans should be used as slaves and their woman as our sows and bring us offspring then die, by Demon Lord Grandolah.'
Nylelith: "God this is pathetic, does every demon think this way, *Sigh, I guess I need to just accept it as it is and follow in my dad's footsteps."
Shutting the book with one hand and readying his double-bladed scythe that formed out of thin air.
#
One Year Later
Half of the lands have been razed to the ground, humans and all living creatures are defenseless against the demon army. Demons laid waste to the world, bodies of humans littered the battlefield that once was a quiet town. Nylelith stood by himself at the edge of town holding his scythe behind him, the sky bled red and smoke cover the town. Bodies riddled the streets mostly humans, with a few stupid demons who got too big-headed and lost their lives too. Nylelith's eyes narrowed, a man's foot poked out from the side of a building, he walked as if he didn't see it. Strolling past the bad hider only strengthened their resolve as five soldiers came from the alleyway with weapons in hand gritting their teeth.
Soldier one: "Stop Demon Lord!"
Nylelith ignored his commands, looking at a sign that hung by a piece of rope 'library'.
Soldier one: "I said stop Demon Lord, and surrender to the knights of Dame or die!"
Nylelith walked up two steps to try the door, it was barricaded from the inside, whimpers can be heard from inside. They charge Nylelith, pushing out a sigh Nylelith braces himself. With a twirl of his scythe from behind his back, he dances forward, an arm of the soldier gets caught in the twirl of the scythe, getting chopped off like butter. Acrobaticly spinning in the air over them, the scythe spins its sharp blades cleaving off their heads as he lands back down behind their headless bodies. Nylelith steps over the unfortunate fellas, still interested in the library he tries the door again.
Nylelith: "Can someone let me in, please! I want to check out a book!"
A child's voice: "Go away monster!"
The kid's voice was immediately shushed by a woman to no avail as the others started to cry defeating the purpose of hiding.
Nylelith scratching his head: "Umm, do you know this will do absolutely nothing besides pissing off the attacker. Look, I just don't want to break down the door, so would you kindly open it please!"
Woman: "So you can kill us easier!"
Nylelith's patience ran thin, exhaling hard he bashed the door in using his shoulder. The demon's strength goes unmatched as he blows back the barricade, the children scream in fright. A demon with grey skin stands at the doorframe. His glowing grey eyes were more like dark silver or mercury. He is referred to as the new age of Demon Lords. Everyone knows him, most hate him, especially the humans.
Woman: "Please don't hurt the children!"
Nylelith: "Can you be quiet, this is a library."
Nylelith saunter over to the history books, a child curled up in the corner cowering from Nylelith. He put his finger to his mouth "Shush" as he turned back to the books. A row of books catches his eye, he pokes his head out of the aisle.
Nylelith: "Excuse me miss, I can't read your language, do you mind if you read me a quote from the book."
She whispers to the kids before standing up: "Let them go and I will read you any book you like!"
Nylelith: "I think they would be a lot safer here than outside, considering the hellhounds scouring the area."
He picks a book from the shelf while gently laying down his scythe on the table next to the counter where you check out books. Walking over to the lady and the kids, handing the book to the lady who reads it reluctantly.
The lady's Scottish accent seeped through her fear: "Kings and Queens of the new age by Greg Hiw, one of our greatest rulers protected this land from the Demon Lord as well as care for his people. His name was Nick Witherspoon. What a load of shite."
She closed the book and took deep breaths, Nylelith was intrigued by the woman, she could have held her tongue but spoke her mind anyway.
Nylelith: "I have a proposition for you, you join me as a transcriber so I can read about humans."
Lady: "Fit ye on aboot, I never join the likes of ye!"
Nylelith: "Nice accent, I am guessing you are not from around here."
Lady composes herself, her accent fades a little: "Stop asking questions monster, you like toying with your victims before killing them is that right you arse!"
Nylelith: "Whatever, just look out for the hell hounds and lesser demons on patrol if you want to live."
Nylelith snatches the book from her hand walking off to the outdoors, the bloody sky cleared up leaving the smoke of the other villages in flames. Nylelith felt down, a book he can't even read, and hopes of friendship shattered by his own doing, unable to do anything about it since his father is watching closely. The world was magical but the use of magic is rare, almost no one can use it which means you are considered the chosen one or the destroyer of the world. Nylelith has such affinity towards magic since he is a Demon Lord and all but that one percent of heroes who have magic are pretty weak and get themselves killed by Nylelith because of being untrained and amateur thinking they can never die. Nylelith walks out of town to the grasslands to regroup with the army of demons.
Nylelith: "I cleared the town already, I sensed an army approaching from the north so we surprise them from the east and west while I wait to the south. As they come near you two will smash your forces from both sides until there is nothing left, got it."
The two commanders of blue and red nod and move out, splitting their forces into two. Nylelith pulls a scroll from a back pouch, unraveling it. The words are in fellen, a demon's language, Nylelith relays the ancient tongue. Words flow from the scroll to the air in front of him, slowly descending to the ground in a circle.
Nylelith: "Vie hin sun!"
A hole darker than the night sky opens, expanding to the point that the village looks like a pebble. The army arrives over the hill, demoralized by the humongous hole in front of them. The king of a faraway land marches onward, stopping at the edge of the abyss.
King: "Demon Lord, I come from the North to stop you! Do you have any last words!"
Nylelith: "Is this where I start monologuing because I am the villain or something."
King: "What?"
Nylelith: "Am I supposed to tell you why I am evil OR?"
King:??"
The king was visibly confused angering him, Nylelith bought himself just enough time for his forces to rush in cashing from both sides. A second hole emerges from behind the king's army, completely boxing them in. The two forces fight a one-sided battle until the king is all that is left. The holes close except for a medium-sized one at the edge of town. Two demons drop the king to his knees, he was at the mercy of Nylelith.
King: "Please don't kill me, I had no choice!"
Nylelith: "Save your tears old man, neither do I."
He kneels getting closer: "Sorry but you will die no matter what so do me a favor and tell me where your kingdom is."
King breaks out into full tears: "Oh please! I am so sorry!"
Nylelith stands: "He is useless."
Booting him into the hole, it closes up and disappears along with the king's screams. A women's screams can be heard from in town, Nylelith rushes, shoving others out of the way. The woman from the library had her back against the wall, the kids are nowhere to be seen.
Woman: "Stay AWAY!"
She smacks one of the feral demons who backs away from her hand before trying to retaliate with a swipe of its claws just to be caught by Nylelith. Holding the demon's wrist he stares at him coldly sending a shiver down the peon as he lets go of its wrist. The two animalistic demons scurry away, tails between their legs. Nylelith looks down upon her, shrugging and turning his back leaving her to her own devices. She sat in silence looking at her savor.
Woman: "Wait!"
Nylelith: "What is it that you want woman, I have no time for people who wear such a face for demons."
Nylelith was talking about the distant look she wore just before she hid it away.
Woman: "Sorry, it is pretty weird to be talking to a demon and not fighting one."
Nylelith: "It is fine, I feel the same way about humans, just like the time when I just wanted a book and you wouldn't let me in."
Woman: "Well I am sorry that I haven't had many good encounters with demons, you Buffon!"
Nylelith: "Heh, you are funny, last chance for that offer."
Woman: "First, you must my know before offering me again."
Nylelith: "Sorry, what is it that your name is your highness."
He bows down ever so elegantly.
Nylelith: "I presume that you know mine."
Woman: "Yes you dummy, it is Erin, and I will gladly take yer offer."
Nylelith with his hopes high: "Really?!"
Erin: "Really."
Nylelith: "Fantastic! Quickly come with me!"
He snatches her by the hand, rushing into the middle of the road where hordes of demons roamed around, looting the town.
Nylelith puffs his chest shouting out in a commanding tone: "Listen here, this soul here is mine! IF one of you even looks at her the wrong way! I will rip out your entrails and put a spell on you and have the crows feast on them while you watch helplessly! NOW MOVE OUT!"
The demon forces vacate the premises leaving a trail of goodies behind as they marched back to the portal from which they crawled out of. Her puffy dark red curly hair bounced around while being dragged around the library.
Nylelith: "Oh what does this say!"
Erin: "The dog rode the sun, it is a child's book."
Nylelith: "How about this one!"
Erin smiled at the child: "A spellbook, I always thought this book was a fake but you said you can use magic so maybe it works."
Erin hands the book back: "It is written in English but I can recite the words for you."
Nylelith: "That is a grand idea that should probably be taken outside."
The two walk to the grasslands outside of town, Erin holds the book and Nyleith stands a good distance away. Erin flips through the pages.
Erin: "Uh no that would be weird, not that one, I think a pervert wrote these spells. Oh, I got it, okay ready Nylelith!"
Nylelith from afar: "Ready!"
Erin: From clouds to smoke."
Nylelith: "From clouds to smoke."
Erin: "Purify the sky."
Nylelith: "Purify the Sky!"
No sudden changes happened as they waited.
Erin: "I don't think it worked-."
A thunderstorm kicked in with haste the two find a tree to take shelter under. The dark clouds moved in the sky like rapid waves, sweeping the contaminated sky away. The two watched in awe as the spell took effect, a titan of a cloud swept the rest of the gloomy sky away leaving behind clear skies and joyful attitudes.
Erin: "It worked!"
Nylelith: "Heck yeah it did."
Erin: "Oh god, that means those spells in this book could work."
Her eyes widen, and she madly flipped through the book and tore out the pages.
Nylelith: "What are you doing!"
Erin: "Some spells should never be used!"
Nylelith: "Wait but I want to learn more!"
Erin turns her back to him: "These are off-limits!"
Upon expeditiously ripping out pages a spell catches her brown eyes 'race change'. She stops to read it thoroughly, Nylelith tries to look at the book to see if he can make out a few words but she puts her hand to his chest, holding him at bay.
Nylelith: "What does it say, come on Erin tell me."
Erin: "It says that you can change to any race for two days but side effects are deep sleep after the spell has worn off and headaches."
Nylelith: "I have never heard of a spell that can do that, all the friends I can make with this spell."
Erin: "Do you want to try it?"
Nylelith: "Of course, I want to try it!"
He gets himself ready.
Erin: "Ready?"
Nylelith: "Ready."
Erin clears her throat: Ah hm, today I am a demon, tomorrow I am human!"
Nylelith: "Today I am a demon, Tomorrow I am human!"
A fuzzy feeling moved throughout his body, a glowing light outlined his body in white, glowing too bright to stare at, Erin covers her eyes with the book.
Nylelith drops to his knees in pain: "Arrr WHAT IS HAPPENING!"
Erin: "Nylelith are you okay!"
He is silent as the bright light dims down, she slowly peeks over the spellbook to her surprise a man in white armor kneeled, his short black shaggy hair covering his eyes, along with white skin. He stared at the ground looking at one hand that supported him.
Nylelith: "My skin, it's white."
Looking up at the disgruntled Erin her eyes glow as she races to him. She lends a shoulder for support, lifting him off his knee and onto his feet. Erin stared into his eyes as she backed up.
Erin: "At least your eyes stayed the same."
Nylelith: "Is that a good thing?"
Erin reassured him: "Yeah, Your eyes were the best thing aboot you."
Nylelith: "Thanks."
Erin: "Now what should we call you."
Nylelith: "What do you mean, is Nylelith a good name?"
Erin: "Lining in the human world with the demon lord's name is just asking for trouble."
Nylelith: "What is a good human name."
Nylelith admires his armor turning around like a dog chasing its tail. Erin spots angels over a knight on the back of the plated white armor.
Erin: "How aboot Liam."
Liam: "I like it, how did you come up with it."
Liam held out his hand at a distance.
Erin: "It means protector, and the angels on your back look like they are protecting the knight."
Liam: "Oh."
Liam was already drawn to something else, to both of their surprise, a white chain formed around his right arm. His hand held a dart marked with gold etchings around the tip that connected to the chains wrapped around his armguard.
Liam: "Huh, I have never seen a weapon like this before."
Erin: "That is a rope dart, some common folk uses it to catch food."
Liam: "I will need to train with this weapon before I go out fighting with this thing."
The dart dissolves away leaving the chains as a reminder that they are always at the ready. He jerks his hand forward sending chains flying at the lonely tree, the dart forms at the last moment, connecting with the tree. His throw was jacked up, the chains didn't catch enough velocity to make a powerful impact.
Erin: "Maybe try spinning with it, like dancing."
Liam: "Do you, think, I can dance."
Erin shrugs: "Well I don't know, I don't judge."
Liam: "Says the person judging me at the library."
Erin: "Whatever! Just, try it."
Liam gets distance: "Fine, fine."
Liam retracts the chains back, sending them wrapping around his arm guards. Letting the chains drop to the ground he gets space to spread them out. At first, Liam spins in place letting the chain build speed.
Erin shouted: "Good! Now you need to take steps!"
Liam shouted back: "I don't know how!"
Liam grows dizzy from spinning but keeps the flow as he takes one step at a time. Pivoting through as he swings the chain around him.
Liam pumped up: "Alright! Here! We, GO!"
With a diagonal slam to the ground, the chains go slashing through the air, getting the most reach they possibly can. The dart slings past the tree hitting the ground right to the side of the tree.
Liam: "I guess I--"
The tree tips over, the bottom half cut down diagonally, clean cut all the way through. The two were shocked at the outcome.
Erin: "What is that dart made out of."
Liam examines it: "No clue."
Pulling it back the chains retract back around his guard, and the dart disappears.
Liam: "I will have to research it later."
Erin closes the distance: "Well what do you want to do now."
Liam thinks hard: "Maybe, uh, I don't know. BUT, the one thing I do know is, I can never show my father this form or else he will get ideas."
Erin was shellshocked: "Wait, your dad is still alive!"
Liam: "Yeah, why, you thought he was dead."
Erin completely flabbergasted: "YES! It said in all the books about our history that your father fell in battle by the sword of our king."
Liam: "Well he is very much alive and instructing me to kill the human or what's left of it after the last great war."
Erin walks back keeping the conversation open: "Yeah you are about that, the world is shambles since the last great war between hell and earth."
Liam: "Yeah, it is easy pickings, not that I want to do this by the way."
Erin: "Then why do you do it."
Liam: "It is because I am forced to do it, I never want to kill humans."
Erin: "You could have joined the humans."
Liam tilts his head towards her with a look that just says 'Really'.
Liam: "Yeah, right. Me, a demon, (puts his hand on his chest) comes to a city filled with humans. And tells them I am here to help."
Erin: "You have a point."
Liam: "But now that I can look like a human, I can finally study the way humans live."
With a shove, Erin asks: "Well, where do we start."
Liam recovers from the shove: "We go to the nearest village and study their way of life, (with a fist of triumph) hopefully it will lead to great things!"
The two prepare for their journey to the closest human village.
