บท 63: 63. Tokyo trip
Rei heard his phone ring as he sat. He looked at it and found out it was Narumi who was calling. He picked it up and asked, "Yes Oba-san."
"Rei doesn't cook dinner tonight we are bringing food home. We will be there in another hour," replied Narumi.
"Ok Oba-san," answered Rei, and cut the call.
He remembered Keiko and Mizuki would be coming back to town today so he texted both of them, [Did you guys come back?]
He immediately got a reply from both of them, [Yes I came back today morning.] from Keiko
[I came home from the airport just now.] came from Mizuki.
Before he could reply he got another message from Mizuki, [Don't forget, I will come tomorrow for the homework.]
Rei smiled as he remembered completing it and replied, [Yes come and take them. You can also come, Keiko.] he didn't forget to invite Keiko too.
[Sure] replied, both of them. He continued to talk to them for another half an hour before both of them had to go and rest.
Rei went towards the hall as he had no other work and sat beside Sora who was already there watching some baseball. He watched the game together with Sora chatting a little in between.
"When are Otou-san and Kaa-san coming home," asked Sora.
"They will be here shortly. They also said today dinner is from outside."
And they heard the doorbell ring. Both of them knew who it was and went to open it. They were Shirogana and Narumi together with their luggage in their hands waiting for them, They helped them in and took their luggage from them to their room.
Shirogana and Narumi went to their room to freshen up after the long drive. Sora and Rei waited patiently for them in the hall. Shirogana and Narumi came back after some time and Narumi informed them, "Come let us have dinner."
They went towards the dining room and Narumi took out various dishes from a cover and slowly placed them on the table. Shidou came in and took his seat waiting for the food. They all ate their dinner and Rei helped Naumi with the dishes.
He came to the hall and saw Shirogana talking with Sora. Shirogana was telling about Meiko's highschool which piqued Rei's interest as he sat beside them.
"It was quite big and was a true top-class school. The campus was large and clean. When we got to the baseball field, I was astonished. They had 3 different grounds for 3 different strings along with an indoor training area for them. The equipment they had was top class. If Meiko plays Baseball there she would shortly be a top-class player. She would have to adjust a lot. Our Meiko can be a little rough at times so she has to ease up a little."
Sora and Rei were dumbstruck listening to all the facilities available in the school for Meiko to use. It stayed true to its name as an elite baseball school. They continued to listen to Shirogana's detailed description of the facilities till Narumi reminded them it was late and everyone went back to their rooms.
Before going, Shirogana turned towards Rei and informed him, "We will go back to Tokyo tomorrow Rei to see Tensei's grave. It will be me, Narumi and you. I will not be a comeback with you two." and continued towards his room.
Rei returned to his room and laid on his bed thinking, 'I also should work hard and get into a nice high school in the future so I can improve further in my game." Rei knew his present school team would not be even able to make it to the finals of the regional tournament.
The Sensen middle school's baseball was mediocre at best. They did not have any outstanding players and all of them were barely average. They were a team if by luck would make into the 2nd round or that was also hard sometimes. The captain of the team was the best out of all of them and was a shortstop with good batting ability.
Rei wanted to make a change and at least enter the quarterfinals with this team which was hard. He turned his head sideways and saw the photo frame. Tomorrow he will go back to Tokyo and visit Tensei's grave after 2 years.
He felt pretty sad thinking about how he couldn't visit sooner. He had the thought of visiting the grave several times these past 2 years but the thought of him not playing baseball anymore always stopped him. Baseball was an important connection between him and Tensei. Rei not playing baseball anymore made him feel conflicted about visiting the grave.
Now that he can play once again he regained the confidence he once lost and was willing to face the grave again. He wanted to share all he has done these past 2 years and how the Kamizato family is taking good care of him.
He suddenly remembered that he invited Mizuki and Keiko tomorrow and whipped his phone out. He immediately sent a text in their group.
[Sorry guys, tomorrow is not available and come after 2 days. I am going to Tokyo on some work.]
[Ok Rei] replied Keiko
[I have to wait 2 more days for my homework.] said Mizuki sending an emoji of a sulking woman.
He also sent out a text to Izumi and got a reply after some time [Can I also come with you tomorrow?]
Rei felt surprised but asked [ I will be going for 2 days is it ok?]
[Yah I asked my parents they have no problem with it.]
[Ok wait I will ask Oji-san.] and went towards Shirogana's room,
He knocked on the door and heard Narumi's voice on the other side, "Yes come in."
He entered and Shirogana asked sitting on a chair, "Oh! Rei what do you want at this time?"
He told them about Izumi wanting to come and Shirogana accepted, "Ok tell him to come by 8 in the morning."
Rei nodded and went out of the room. Reaching his room he sent the text to Izumi and after getting a reply he slept peacefully,
