บท 2: 1: Awakening
Date: Ota 1st, 3425
Location: Gaia Tree square, Starlight City, Light continent
"Welcome citizens and warriors off our fine city! Today is the 2nd awakening ceremony for our younger generation. As everyone knows, every young man and woman who has turned 16 during the last 6 months gets to connect with the Gaia tree right here and receive their gift from Gaia herself....their own system. With this system, they can evolve. They can get better, stronger, all to combat the dark, evil, and chaotic forces that have plagued this world. After today, they will be part of Gaia's army!"
In the middle of Starlight City, stood a tree that seemed to reach into the vast expanse of space. This tree was the Gaia world tree. All around it were specks of glowing yellow-white light that seemed to be a live and energetic. They flew around it seemingly waiting for something. Near the tree and lights stood a tall, middle aged man, with long white hair and beard. This mans name was Gerard Dwight, and he was the leader for this city. He was also one of the strongest "awakened", an A-rank, with the ranks going from F, the weakest, to SSS, the strongest. As one of the strongest in the city as well as being the leader, he was well known throughout the city and a bit beyond as well. Currently he was kicking off the start of the city's awakening ceremony, that was about to produce another batch of Gaia's soldiers.
Around him were thousands of citizens of the city, waiting and listening with excitement. Those with children, who had reached 16 these last 6 months and were going to awaken today, held their kids tight with anticipation. Over a 100 young men and women waited impatiently in the crowd as they trembled with excitement and yearning, their eyes shining bright. Among them was a young man that stood at 6 feet. He had an ordinary appearance, pale white skin, slight acne covered face, thick eye brows, short, messy brown hair, brown eyes, and an almost unhealthy thin physique. his name was Michael Day, and he had turned 16 a couple weeks ago. Despite being so ordinary, he had an extraordinary dream, to be the strongest and vanquish all the evil forces in the world. He knew that it would be a long, and tough path, but his eyes burned with fervor and passion.
Standing beside him were two middle aged people. They were his parents, Patrick and Alexis Day. They were both B-rank hunters and have been looking forward to this day since young Michael was born. Their precious boy was about to become a man and start his own journey to become strong. Every parent wanted what was best for their child and want them to succeed. These two were no exception, as they looked at Michael in anticipation.
"I know everyone here is excited, so, without further ado, may I have all these young soon to be warriors for this great planet of ours approach and surround the tree here. Don't push and shove, there is plenty of room for everyone here."
As soon as the last word of the city leader dropped, the volume of the crowd rose explosively as they all cheered on the young men and women undergoing the awakening today. Gradually, the kids made their way toward the tree in the center of the square. Young Michael started to go as well but was suddenly stopped by his mother. She took him by the shoulders and held him firmly in place. With tears in her eyes , she spoke to him. "Mikey, my precious boy. I've waited....no...we've waited for this day for so long. We are so proud of you. You will grow to be so strong. No matter what kind of system you receive or how powerful it is, you will always be our son. So, go on and go step onto your path.". While wiping a tear and giving him a wide smile, she let him go and allowed him to make his way toward the tree. "I know mom. I will become the strongest. I promise. Just you two wait!" Michael replied while looking between his mother and father. His mom just cried harder while his father nodded and patted him on the shoulder for a second. After that brief exchange, Michael went and joined the others slowly making their way towards the beginning of their journey.
About 10 minutes later, all the kids that would be awakening had surrounded the tree with specks of light hovering around each one. The city leader smiled as he waited for the crowd to calm down and and become silent. In a moment, these kids lives were about to change for the better. A couple of minutes later, silenced had finally settled upon the square. However, the excitement and anticipation were palpable. and could be seen in everyone's eyes.
"HA HA! Excellent! Now, in a moment, these small, specks of light will enter the bodies of these kids here. As well all know these aren't normal lights. Each light represents a portion of Gaia's power, her blessing, her gift to them as well as their opportunity. For each child, a light will enter them and Gaia will bestow upon them a system, a system for them to use to evolve and grow strong so that they can help fight for our world against the forces of evil and corruption. This process will only last a couple minutes, so, without further ado, let the awakening begin!"
As soon as the last word of the city leader dropped, the numerous lights started lying around and entered into each and every kids body. Whether they were Draco, elven, dwarven or human, they had a light enter them. As each kids body had a light enter them, they were wrapped in a bright yellow-white cocoon of light to undergo the awakening process. Within a couple moments,m the center of the square was as if a miniature sun had had been born. The collection of these light were bright enough to cause everyone in the crowd to look away or shield their eyes from it.
All the parents as well as the other adults in the crowd waited with small breaths and expectant eyes. This was the younger generations time to shine. After this, they had a duty, a responsibility, to properly guide and nurture these young ones. A couple more minutes passed by before the cocoons of light started dimming and eventually disappearing. Seeing this, the crowd knew the ceremony was close to ending. Sure enough, 2 minutes later, every light had disappeared and all the kids in their new, transformed bodies reappeared, reveling in their new systems and power and new looks. Yes. The systems they received also transformed their bodies. Some underwent a small change while others had quite a large one.
For our young Michael, his change was a part of the latter. Michael had now stood at 6 foot 6 inches, a full 6 inch growth from the awakening. His skin had a slight tan, and his body no longer had that sickly, oddly thin look anymore. His entire body now were full of slightly toned muscles, his midsection having a barely visible 6 pack. His face went over a complete makeover as well. His eyebrows were now thin and sharp. His eyes were now black as the abyss. his face was free from any acne and blemishes. His hair had turned to jet black as well. The sides o his head lost their hair so only the top of his head had hair. All of this had now given him a domineering, handsome look.
People would barely be able to tell this was the same man from before the ceremony. However, his parents still recognized him despite the change and quickly found him in the crowd while holding onto each other. he was their son after all. They took in their son's new look and they could instinctively feel that he had received quite a powerful system with a lot o potential. In the future, they would realize, however, that they had vastly underestimated it's potential and power. A power that would go on and....well, you'll have to continue on to find out!
