"Finally, the big day has arrived," Shyam texted in the group chat before getting ready for the exam. Though it was only the first of three exams, its impact on their final grades was enough to make it crucial.
Despite its importance, the morning felt like any other: wake up, eat breakfast, and head to school.

Raitha's Encounter
While on her way to school, Raitha noticed Ritika walking the same route. It seemed unusual—Raitha had never seen her take this path before. Then again, she barely knew Ritika until recently, so it might've just been a coincidence.
Curious, she approached her. After a friendly "Hi-hello," they walked together toward the school gates, where they saw Shyam speaking with a group of boys.
As the girls reached him, Shyam quickly wrapped up his conversation. Raitha's curiosity couldn't be contained.
"Who were you talking to?" she asked.
Shyam, however, smiled awkwardly and replied,
"Sorry, I can't tell you about them."
Though his response left her puzzled, Raitha decided not to press further. If Shyam didn't want to talk about it, she figured it must be something private.

The Exam Begins
After chatting briefly about their preparations, the three friends parted ways and entered their respective classrooms.
Sitting by the window, Shyam stared outside for a moment. The warmth of spring sunlight and the gentle breeze calmed his nerves. It was the perfect setting to gather his thoughts before the challenge ahead.
When the teacher handed out the exam papers, the room fell silent. All that could be heard was the faint scratching of pens against paper as everyone focused on their answers.
An hour passed. Then two. The air in the classroom was heavy with concentration as the students worked tirelessly.
Finally, after four hours, the bell rang: Ting, ting, ting, ting!
"Okay, students, stop writing and submit your papers now!" the teacher announced, his voice cutting through the silence.

After the Exam
Outside the classroom, the trio regrouped. Raitha's face lit up with excitement as she asked,
"So, how did it go for you two?"
Both Shyam and Ritika responded with big smiles, but something about their expressions felt off to Raitha. Beneath their grins, there was a subtle hint of resignation, as if they had already accepted their scores wouldn't be great.
Unable to hold back her concern, Raitha pressed further,
"So... it didn't go well, did it?"
Her tone was gentle but direct, and her worried expression made it impossible for them to avoid the question. Ritika was the first to respond, though her usual confidence seemed to have taken a vacation.
"Actually... I think I'll get a passing score," Ritika admitted hesitantly. "But I don't think it'll be much more than that. Honestly, I've never felt this ashamed of myself before. Still... after meeting you two, my perspective has changed a lot."
Raitha's heart swelled with warmth at Ritika's honesty. She was happy to have made such a positive impact on her friend.
Shyam, sensing an opportunity to shift the conversation away from their exam struggles, chimed in,
"Oh, don't worry about it. We're friends, right? We're here to help each other. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to reach out!"
However, Raitha wasn't ready to let Shyam off the hook so easily. As soon as he finished speaking, her gaze shifted toward him, her expression clearly saying, "Your turn to answer."
Shyam chuckled nervously, but before he could say anything, Raitha's persistence won out.

And just like that, the first exam day came to an end. Whether it went well or not for each of them remained unclear, but one thing was certain: their bond as friends was growing stronger.
