When they came across a man who was nearly two meters tall, with red hair and a beard, shirtless, and a large scar on his right chest, Seth's people shifted their focus to him.
They all realized that this person's cultivation level must be much higher than that of the guard who answered their questions.
They didn't know how to quantify the power according to the cultivation levels the guard had mentioned. However, they knew there was a reasonable difference between this man, who appeared to be in his middle age, and the guard in front of them.
"Who are you?" Seth asked.
The red-haired man looked at Seth and quickly realized that this youth was the leader of the newly arrived group. "My name is Kevin Brant. I am the leader of this guild. I overheard part of your conversation with this young guard. I can introduce you to the place directly in his place."
"What is your level according to the cultivation that the guard mentioned?" Atlas asked while several of his companions had the same question in mind.
In the guild hall, several mercenaries were standing around watching this group. When such a ridiculous question was asked, some of them laughed softly, surprised at the behavior of these outsiders.
Asking about someone's cultivation was extremely rude. Cultivation was a vital essence for every cultivator, which many hid from everyone.
Even with the existence of powers and ways to analyze people's strength, if you wanted to hide your strength in this world, it was quite possible to do so. As a matter of fact, some cultivators did it unconsciously.
If someone were to hide their strength, it would be challenging to tell their level for sure, and only by watching a fight, or even fighting against such a person, would it be possible to estimate their strength for sure.
Therefore, it wasn't common to ask someone's level, let alone do so publicly.
The guild master laughed at these people's manners, but he could sense that they were not weak, so he answered the question.
"I am an Ancestral level warrior." He said, without specifying at which point of this stage he was, but without worrying about others knowing about it since anyone in this city would know that he had reached this stage many years ago.
"Ancestor? Is that what comes after Grandmaster? By the way, is that the name of your physical cultivation level?" Seth asked.
He was a quick learner and had already noticed the pattern in these names.
"Yes, Ancestor refers to the 4th stage, which is called Spirit Lake Realm for soul cultivators."
Dax looked at Seth while the black-haired young man looked at Atlas, putting aside his doubts as he realized the level of power of the strongest in this city.
Changing the subject, Seth said. "I would like to enlist my group in your guild to carry out missions. We're looking for some information, but we'll be doing missions to collect coins for now."
Kevin was naturally pleased to have strong people join his guild and smiled. "Of course. We'll help you. Depending on what kind of information you're looking for, I'll personally look into it for you.
Please, this way." He led the way.
"What do we have to do to join your guild?" Moses asked.
"Not much. We just need to know your basic information and collect some of your traits so we can better help you choose your missions. But don't worry, you don't have to give up any secret details. That is a very simple process." Kevin replied as he opened a door to a large room.
In this place, the size of an average living room, there was little decoration around, but in general, the place looked like a piece of a museum, with objects and paintings near the walls.
In the center of the room was what looked like a work of art, a special model of an hourglass that had something shiny on the connection between its two compartments.
The 20 survivors of the Misty Woods Tribe settled into the room with some difficulty but managed to fit in without anyone having to stand outside.
The only woman working there was surprised to see so many people being led by the guild master, but she didn't say anything. She just watched them in silence, seeing how handsome some of these people were and how much power they exuded.
'Ah, that smells like a man...' She closed her eyes as she noticed that none of them wore perfume and exuded their natural scent.
Kevin stopped next to what looked like a piece of art and presented it to the people in Seth's group.
"Dear strangers, in this room, we will identify you as members of the Mystic Widowmakers, my guild." He said, "And this is what measures the power of new members.
But don't worry, whether you want to keep your levels secret or not, this tool won't tell us your cultivation level.
It simply records your level in your log and automatically tells you which mission rating is best for you.
The guild has no access to this information, and we don't need it. It's just a feature we like to have on our members' IDs so they don't choose missions that could kill them."
This device has never failed, so its accuracy is outstanding."
"That sounds fantastic."
"Yes, a real device."
"The people in this place seem to be somewhat evolved..."
There were murmurs, but Kevin continued his explanation. "Apart from this gadget, you need to talk to my friend Aria first." He looked in the direction of the blonde woman who was watching some of the young people in Seth's group intently.
"Aria will collect your information individually and create your IDs. Once you have your IDs, she'll guide you to add your cultivation level and mercenary class with this tool."
"Sounds simple..." One of the older members of the group commented to Seth, seeing no problem with the Mystic Widowmakers' methods.
The first of them began to give Aria their information while Seth watched, waiting to do so after his companions.
Seth stopped next to Kevin and asked. "What's with the name of this guild? Did you create a lot of widows? How do you do that?"
Kevin was expressionless momentarily as he stared at Seth, but he soon found the strength to explain, laughing nervously. "Actually, uh, some of our founding members were a bit restless... They did a lot of things and killed a lot of people on missions.
One day, someone said they were widowmakers, and eventually, the name caught on. The rest is history."
"So you kill people too. Isn't that a crime in this society? Where we come from, killing is a crime punishable by eternal banishment." Dax listened to Kevin's answer.
"Yes, it is a crime to kill an innocent person who has done nothing wrong, and especially to do it in broad daylight. But there are some exceptions. For example, if someone attacks you, you have the right to defend yourself.
There are ways to kill within the law, so we're not necessarily outlaws for killing. But there is a punishment for murderers in our society."
"I see..." Dax said before it was his turn to share his information.
Then it was Seth's turn, and he walked over to the woman, who couldn't help but smile at him, a little blushing.
"Hi... Let's start with your name." She said, showing off her perfect teeth.
"Seth O'Brian..."
