"I want to speak to your manager" the girl yelled at Eleanor with fiercely looking eyes, which attracted the eyes of other diners at the restaurant.
"There's no need to create a scene, miss, your meal was served just as requested," El said as calmly as possible to stop her from creating one.
"Are you deaf? I said I demand an audience with your manager," she yelled even more as she stood to her feet.
This girl wanted trouble. She wasn't planning on stopping here and El knew it. She could feel that she wanted to test her patience and make things difficult for her. But she isn't going to let her derive the pleasure of watching her lose her cool. She had dealt with more annoying people than her in the past. These were the kind of people she hated the most - people who think they can use their positions to make other people's lives miserable.
"Miss please calm d..." She couldn't complete her sentence as water was splashed on her face.
"I said I demanded an audience with your manager and you tell me to calm down? What gave you the right to order me around, you filthy piece of trash?" Her eyes were fiercer than before. All the attention of the diners was on the two girls.
El became furious and amazed at the same time, but it wasn't evident in her expression. She couldn't fathom the reason for this girl's disdainful attitude towards her and this made her angrier. If she planned on making her lose her cool, then it was working. Words don't usually get to her, but this girl was a bully and wants to bully her. She isn't going to let her. She hates bullies and she wouldn't let anyone bully her. People like her derive pleasure in treating other people like filth and she was going to put her in her place. She was done kissing her ass and she is going to give her a piece of her mind, damn the consequences.
"Filthy piece of trash?" She smirked "the only filth I see here is you with your disgusting attitude and trashy outfit. In case you haven't noticed, they are so last season." She smiled.
This was enough to rile the girl up, and she raised her hand to slap her, but El caught her hand countering her attack.
"How dare you hold my hands, do you have a death wish?" The girl asked feeling very furious.
"The only death we'll be seeing here today is your death in my hands when I strangle your suffocating face". The anger flickered in her eyes and the girl gasped on seeing the grievous look in her eyes. The expression on the girl's face at that moment was overwhelming, which brought a smirk to El's mouth.
"Let go."
A smirk was still on her lips as she stared into the girl's eyes. That should teach her some manners, she thought before letting go of her hand.
"What's going on here?" A voice came from behind. "Fuck" El cursed within her. The girl's gaze left El to the figure standing behind her who asked the question and El slowly turned her gaze to the figure too.
"Are you the manager?"
"Yes miss, do you have any complaints?"
"Your employee here is humiliating me before everyone, I want her fired." She said mustering all the courage she had left. El could feel the stare of all the diners on them both.
Her words brought a smile to El's lips that quickly faded and this made the girl angrier as her gaze moved from the man to El and back.
I think there must be some misunderstandings here." He asked as his gaze shifted from her to El and then back.
"Misunderstandings? Your employee doesn't have manners. She ordered and insulted me before everyone here. This piece of garbage insulted me, I mean look at her. Clearly, she doesn't know her place here," her gaze shifted to El as if trying to remind her of her job and what she's supposed to do, earning a faint smile from El which disappeared almost immediately. "I want her fired."
He knit his brows into a frown at her words.
"I'm so sorry for the inconvenience caused by my employee today, I promise it won't repeat itself. I'll get another waiter who will be able to satisfy your demands."
"You obviously weren't listening to what I was saying. I said I want her fired here and now," she raised her chin to look into the eyes of the man standing in front of her.
"I am sorry for the troubles caused to you by my employee today, but I think however I treat my employees is none of your business."
"Oh really? Where is your boss? I want to speak with him."
"I am the owner of this place, Adrian Welsh." He said as expressionless as ever, making the girl more furious as it was evident in her eyes. "I am so sorry for the inconvenience, you will be well compensated for the humiliation caused by my employee." He looked at one of his waiters and he came immediately to attend to the girl. "George will take care of your orders. Please accept my sincere apology." Her gaze shifted from the man standing before her to El standing behind the man and then back, before going back to her seat and another waiter attended to her.
"I am so sorry for the inconvenience everyone, please continue with your meal and free champagne for every table as a token of my apology." He raised his voice so everyone could hear him. With that, he turned to the figure standing behind him with a frown and walked away. El understood the meaning of the look and followed him reluctantly.
They walked to his office in absolute silence with him leading the way and she behind him and they got in after he opened the door.
"What was that all about?" He asked, his tone as calm as possible.
"I'm sorry, I lost my cool for a second. That girl is a jerk."
"That was so not professional of you. You know the rules, the interests of the customers come first."
"I am not gonna apologize for not kissing her ass, Adrian."
"And I am not gonna congratulate you for creating a scene tonight. You had a job to do, and that was to be professional just as you had been for the past three years we've worked together."
"Excuse me? Are you saying it's my fault that I refused to be bullied? It's my fault that that girl is an unmannered bitch that poured water on me when I tried to be professional? You know what? I'm leaving. I'm not gonna stand here and listen to this. You can all go to hell, after all, I'm not your employee." She turned around and walked towards the door.
"El wait," she paused in her tracks and turned, facing his direction. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have taken this out on you. It's just that we have really important guests tonight and that unpleasant scene would've ruined our reputation," he said as he walked to where she was standing and stood in front of her. He had known her all his life and she wasn't someone who acts on impulse. If she insulted that girl, it must be because she deserved it.
"I'm sorry too, I shouldn't have lost my cool and would've ignored her to the very end," she said as she hugged him. Adrian and her have been best friends since when they were little and their friendship had grown tighter over the years, all thanks to their mothers. She hated it when they fought, but sometimes he can be a little piggy-headed. Who was she kidding, he's always piggy-headed
"She must be really annoying to make you lose your temper," he released her from his embrace to take a good look at her face. "She really is." They both chuckled.
"Who's your important guest?"
"Ethan Grayson," he said as he walked back to his chair and sat down. "The famous business tycoon?" She asked as she walked over to where he was seated.
"The one and only heir to Grayson's Enterprise."
"I thought he wasn't in the country? It's been five years since I heard he last visited this country."
"Well, that's true, but he is now. He arrived some hours ago. It seems he has a business meeting with some investors," he said pouring a bottle of wine into a glass cup on his desk.
"Do you want a drink?"
"No, I'm just gonna head back to the hotel. I need to change these outfits."
"I'm sorry for tonight El," she smiled. "Lukas will take you there." She nodded to his words and left.
