Kayla and Kalinda walked along the sidewalk bordering Manatee Creek to the south of downtown, hands clasped, arms swinging slightly as they basked in just being alone for the moment. They had joined the others at The Murky Cauldron for their coven meeting, surprised Tansy wasn’t attending. Hannah was there, back to her typical playful self, ready to crack a joke at the least provocation, wanting to know what parties she missed. The witches needed the laughter. Life had kept them on edge for over a month, for some of them even longer.
As soon as the gathering was over, Kayla suggested Kalinda and her take a walk, enjoying the cooler temperature while they could. Kalinda simply smiled at Kayla, took her hand, and started down a side street toward the creek.
