While eating dinner with his mother and grandma, Patrick sat with them. After they have decided not to see him, he decides to come over. They'd been bugging him about it, so he came from work and stayed the night. It was also an excellent opportunity because he had something important to tell them.
"Grams, Mom, I need to tell you something."
His mother inquired, her voice full of curiosity, "What is it?"
He said, "I'm inviting Aaron to the wedding."
He saw his mother's wide eyes fix on him. She was taken aback. On the other hand, his grandmother's eyes sharpened at him after a moment of surprise.
"There must be a reason why you want to invite him."
He posed the hypothetical question, "Should there be a reason?" "I know you're secretly hoping I would."
She said, "You already asked Phil's father to be your father on that day."
He said matter-of-factly, "And he still is. He was more of a father to me than Aaron would ever be."
