บท 7: #7 TEN GRAND!?
When they get home they are welcomed by all the kids carrying celebratory DIY signs.
The kids wait for him to say the golden words.
"I- how do I say this again?" He says rubbing his chin and furrowing his brows.
"Ah if I am correct, I folded the competition." He said uncertain in his english.
The kids roar in celebration and all make their own exclamations as Kodai just looks on.
"They used to celebrate like this when I came home with a win, enjoy it while you can." Elijah says as he leaves the room.
Steve grabs his keys and opens the door.
"Then we need to go get the reward." Steven says.
They get in the truck and make their way into town where they stop at a large building with the letters wbba on it.
They walk in and talk to the receptionist, she sees Kodai and immediately knows where to send them.
"Top floor first elevator to my right!" She exclaims.
"Thank you." Steven said.
They get in the elevator and press the top button. The elevator takes them up for a while before stopping at a luxurious office.
They press a button at the door and after a second they are let in with a click.
They walk in and are greeted by a young man in a suit with shoulder length blonde hair and shiny blue eyes.
"Welcome to the wbba, I'm Rogier a pleasure to meet the new regional champion." He says holding out a hand for a handshake.
Kodai just stands there staring and after a second Liz whispers into his ear.
"This is where you shake his hand." She whispers.
Kodai reaches out and shakes his hand.
"You have guide the handshake." Rogier said.
"Your's is decent." Kodai said.
They pull away and Rogier pulls out a WBBA card.
"I noticed this was your first tournament and you weren't registered with the WBBA so I took the liberty of registering you for you. That card comes with the 7 grand for winning and a bonus of 3 grand for giving us a particularly entertaining battle." He explained.
"Woah woah woah since when was this a thing?" Steven questioned.
"As of April 23rd 2020 or 5 days ago our district transfered to an incompany banking system via these cards, with the growth in banking incidents the higher ups are beginning to lose faith in the u.s banking system so we transferred to the one we are using right now." He explained.
"Uh huh so he just gets his own banking account with yall?" He asks.
"Indeed any money he gains from battling will go directly to his account which can be used with that card oh and heres the paper with all your account details, if you wish to change anything you can use our website or app." He said.
After clarifying some things they begin to leave and as they're waiting on the elevator it opens and the boy Kodai had battled that day came out of it.
As the elevator closes Kodai looks back and stares as the boy enters the office.
"He's probably here for his reward as well." Steven said.
"Wait i won though, why does he get a reward too?" Kodai asked.
"The top 3 get rewards not just the winner." Steven explained.
"That's redundant." Kodai explained.
Later when they get home they resume their regular activities, kodai for example continues to work on his english with Liz.
Meanwhile some others were working in secret developing what they believed to hold the secrets to Kodai's insurmountable power.
The machine pops open with the sound of gushing air and as the steams wafts through the air a beyblade is eventually revealed.
Featuring a predominantly circulare layer with mostly gold and silver with traces of black in it.
"Here's your new bey the ultimate stamina type, 99.9% of its weight is on the outer ring and it features a nearly perfect circular layer and in worst case scenario it has cushioning springs and counter weights to counteract high impacts and prevent ring outs. Now all that's left is for you to name it." Steven declares.
"Can I get to know it before naming it?" Elijah asks.
"Sure just remember no matter what you do do not let that boy discover the secrets of your bey got it?" He said.
"Yeah, got it." Elijah answers.
He makes his way to his room, he sits on his bed as he examines the beyblade in hand.
So it's the "ultimate stamina type" Huh
He takes it apart and examines the individual parts, the disk is polished to a mirror finish and bares gold lines rippling through. The driver on the other hand is wide and has a free spinning tip that when spun can spin on its own for nearly an hour.
He flicks his vision to his door which is open.
Damn I forgot to close it
He gets up to close it but as he gets to the door he finds Kodai.
"What are you doing?" Elijah asks.
"Gettin this towel to Liz, she spilled pop on herself." He explained holding up the towel.
"Oh alright." Elijah closes the door.
Kodai makes it back to the room and hands the towel to her.
"Thanks Kodai." She exclaims.
"No problem." Kodai said.
Liz begins wiping off her chest covered in pop.
"Thank god I'm wearing black and not white!" She exclaims.
"Yeah." Kodai agrees.
In his workshop Steven is staring at his screens now displaying the statistics of two beyblades.
"I expect much son." He exclaims.
