บท 190: His pride

Arif rubbed his temple as he completed the last of his work. The scrolls have been piling up again.

Standing up, his face lit up with a rare smile. He was going to see her. The lady he hoped would be his for a long time.

The guilt was there. So was his fear. What if she regains her memories? What if she left him?

His heart constricted painfully in his chest. This felt like a punishment. Realizing his love for her after the damage was done.

He walked leisurely towards their shared quarters. It was no longer heavily guarded to keep her in.

She was free to roam anywhere she liked. With those marks inked on her body, he could find her anywhere.

Something stuck like a sour thumb in his mind. The prophecy. He clenched his fist trying to dismiss it.

It was probably his delusional thinking. It won't happen. Or so he thought. The prince found the princess looking out the window of their shared bedroom.
