Sophia approached Alex, her eyes filled with concern.
"Alex, what's wrong? Was your father yelling at you because of me?"
Alex hesitated, trying to cover up the truth. "No, no, it's nothing like that. He's just stressed about business."
"Business? But it didn't look like a talk about business to me. I mean, he was always turning to look at me and occasionally pointed at me, so it looked like he was talking about me." Sophia persisted.
Alex sighed. "Come on Sophia... He was just stressed about work. One of the clients was a real pain in the ass, so he was reporting the client to me.
And as for why he was pointing at you, there is a perfectly good explanation for that." Alex said.
Sophia's gaze pierced through his facade. "Don't lie to me, Alex. I know it's because of me. He doesn't want us to be together, does he?"
Alex's eyes dropped, unable to meet Sophia's piercing stare. "Sophia, please understand..."
