บท 13: Lucian's plan [4]

"Where did she go?"

At the lowest of the tower, several adventurers were moving through the crowd, turning their heads left and right, looking for someone.

"That shitty woman! If master Ceasar finds out about this, we are all dead!"

"Why does he give her this kind of special treatment in the first place?!"

"Shut it, both of you. Are you questioning master's decision?!"

"Well, no… But that sh— I mean, Valentina is really weird and troublesome. She doesn't even listen to master, to begin with."

"That's because you don't know anything. Stop complaining and find her!"

The adventurers began to look inside every single building but they couldn't find Valentina.

Meanwhile, at the top of a tall building, a black tree grew from the shadow, and a girl wearing a pitch-black dress was flapping her leg as she sat on top of one of the black tree branches. It was Valentina.

"I forgot to ask his name," Valentina muttered, holding a huge black teddy bear in her arms, thinking back about her discussion with Lucian.

"And how do I know which pink-haired girl is the one?" Valentina tilted her head to the side. "Choupyu? And how do I show someone how to be an adventurer?"

Valentina followed Lucian because she found him interesting, mostly because she knew that she couldn't win against him in a fight.

She wanted to know what kind of relic he had and what kind of secret he was hiding behind these black fabrics. Was he like her?

Despite how she looked, Valentina liked to fight and crush her opponents. She had long lost interest in humans as they were boring and unchanging. At least, inside the Abyss, something weird occurred.

However, Lucian manipulated her by using the word 'secret' to stir up her curiosity.

"Kuyuh!" Valentina looked a little bit frustrated after realizing that she let Lucian have the upper hand.

Moreover, Lucian asked her to help someone, something that she had never done before.

"He is challenging me~," Valentina said, rolling her head and then looking up to the sky. "And he knew about you guys, didn't he?"

Valentina couldn't tell what Lucian was thinking. He was mysterious even from her point of view. She wanted to know more, she wanted to fight him.

Nothing else mattered as long as she could entertain her curiosity and thirst for thrilling situations by staying with Lucian.

"Choupyu? A pink-haired girl?" Valentina said, as one of her underlings that was hiding in the shadow spotted a pink-haired girl that looked disoriented.

"Well, it sounds fun~"

*****

After entering the Royal Palace, Lucian ended up inside a spacious garden full of exotic plants and trees.

As he advanced deeper inside the mysterious garden, he found a woman wearing a beautiful dark blue dress. She had silver hair and golden eyes. She had all of the charms of a mature woman, and her curvy body and generous chest indicated that much. Her face was beautiful, refined, and elegant rather than cute.

"Who are you?" She looked like she was enjoying her tea when she noticed Lucian, considering the tea sets and the expensive-looking sweets on the white table.

"Don't mind me. I am just passing by," Lucian said and continued walking as if he didn't see anything.

However, more than five knights appeared from behind the trees and surrounded him.

"How did you come here? What's your goal? Where are your friends?" One of the knights shouted. He was pretty young. He had blonde hair and a face that screamed, 'I will kill everyone that approaches her Highness!'

Lucian didn't say anything and resumed walking.

"Hey! Stop!"

The knights tried to grab Lucian but they were blown away before they could get close to him. He made sure to hold back to not turn their bodies into meat pastes, knowing that they were doing their job, but he didn't also look back to see what happened to them as he continued to walk.

The silver-haired woman was still calm even after seeing what happened to her knights. Lucian was a little impressed, glancing at her.

"What are you looking for in this place?" The woman said, knowing that Lucian was strong.

"Something related to my past," Lucian answered honestly, acknowledging her as someone that deserved to be answered.

"That doesn't prove that you don't have any bad intentions. The moment you came into this place without being invited, you are already considered a criminal," the woman said calmly, giving a logical overview of the situation. "So, if you don't cooperate, how do I know that you are not lying?"

She wanted to ascertain that Lucian didn't have any bad attention, but convince him to surrender by himself.

Lucian turned and looked at the woman. Her words said a lot about her character, and Lucian who was expressionless until now smiled a little. He found her answer quite interesting. Seeing his smile, however, the woman felt chills on her back.

"Are you saying that it's my fault if you other humans couldn't evolve into superior beings that could discern that I didn't have any bad intentions?" Lucian asked.

"What are saying?" The woman squinted her eyes. She wasn't aware that she had already lost if she wanted to talk Lucian to submission.

"For example, if you walk inside the territory of a colony of ants, do you need to prove that you didn't have any bad attention? Isn't it because the ants are far inferior that you don't need to explain yourself to them?"

"B-but this is different?" The woman understood that there was truth in what Lucian said.

"As a superior being, I don't see any difference. Like an ant, you can't understand what I am thinking because I am superior," Lucian continued with his explanation. "Lowering myself to your level would render all of my efforts in becoming superior into nothing. It would be going backward, like a human prostrating himself in front of a group of ants to prove that he didn't have any bad intentions."

"Y-you!" The woman looked like she didn't know what to say. The fact that Lucian didn't hesitate to describe himself as superior rendered all of her arguments useless. Because if she argued and Lucian proved that he was really what he claimed to be, it would serve as further proof that he was right.

"As such, unless someone superior to me appeared, I don't have anything to prove to anyone. And the moment someone couldn't gauge my full power, it was already decided that they were inferior to me. Even more when they lost to a verbal argument," Lucian said, walking away, returning to his usual self.

The beautiful woman's face turned red, and she stood up from her seat and attacked Lucian.

Thick tree roots appeared from the ground and wrapped around Lucian's body. Then, a gigantic sunflower grow from the ground, and luminous energy gathered at the center of the sunflower before blasting Lucian.

Boom!

A smoke of dust enveloped the whole area and the woman stood there, looking at the crater on the ground.

"You see?"

"Kyahhh!" After hearing Lucian whispering to her hears the woman let out a cute voice unbecoming of her appearance and distanced herself away from him.

However, Lucian didn't say anything else and walked away, making her more frustrated.

"Wait! I am coming with you," the woman said, regaining her composure.

"…" Lucian didn't say anything and continued to walk with the woman walking beside him.
