Solan was tall but Kahler towered over him, the Angel's lips lifting in a quiet smile. "You did?"

Solan was suddenly painfully aware of how easy it would be for him to be thrown into the dungeons alongside Velia he was supposed to help, the sound of the chatting guards floating over. He remained quiet, not sure how much Kahler knew, and not eager to show his cards.

"Have you considered my offer?" Kahler asked, his piercing gray eyes serene considering that he had found Solan communicating with the incarcerated ex-royalty.

"I…" Solan trailed off, grateful that Velia hadn't said a single word. "I haven't." He forced out, his gaze dropping to the ground.
