Sarell slowly came to, he opened his eyes drowsily to find himself staring at a very familiar ceiling. It felt like he had seen the ceiling right before he slept and at the same time like he hadn't seen it in decades.

A phantom ache in his right shoulder distracted him from his thoughts of the ceiling above him, the ache bringing with it memories he wished had remained forgotten.

Sarell pushed himself upright to find himself all alone in Prince Velia's chambers, he sighed in relief at this finding. He knew that he would have to face the Crown Prince eventually but he would rather not do it right after waking up.

It was a futile wish because the door opened right after. He whipped around in that direction and instantly regretted it from how nauseous it made him. He was fortunate that it was his wing that had gotten scratched because that limited the effect of dark essence in his body.
