Many people on this earth have always obsessed over having a youthful appearance.
They try to look as young as possible with the help of Botox injections and extreme surgeries.
Most would do anything to achieve those results.
Unfortunately for me, none of those options are necessary.
Now at the age of 36, I don't look a day older than 18.
No wrinkles.
No sagging.
No crow's feet.
Nothing.
Nada.
Zilch.
It was as if I stopped aging at 18.
For what reason? I have no idea.
As the time gradually flew by, my curiosity got the best of me.
I spent the majority of my time in the library, reading and analyzing different books that could logically explain my 'condition'.
The years of research led me to beings that were written in storybooks, beings that were said to be nonexistent and far more powerful than any other creature alive.
The immortals, also known as the supernatural creatures.
They were known to have roamed this earth far longer than even the human kind, thousands of years back.
At first, I was skeptical.
My science background made it fairly hard for me to believe in them and I doubted myself every step of the way.
But then again, how can I say that supernatural beings don't exist when I'm a living representative of 'abnormality'.
After graduating from college with a degree in laboratory science, I had trouble finding samples of creatures that were believed to be unreal.
But then, if I existed, there had to be others like me.
And I knew that the average Joe—Jane like me wouldn't be able to get anywhere near these supernatural beings without some help.
The only other option that I deemed probable was that, perhaps, the government would have more information on them than anyone else.
With that assumption in mind, I enrolled myself into rigorous experimentation for the government in search of answers for my genetic oddity.
While there, I was taught the skills and experience needed to splice genes and decode what different genetic traits meant.
But, most importantly, I got my hands on the different samples of the immortals' blood.
Although I was only in charge of analyzing their DNA through their blood, I am just as guilty as any other in this governmental facility for the aid in their extinction.
It wasn't my intention to do so and I am extremely regretful in my involvement.
I should have been grateful that I didn't age, that my appearance remained the same after so many years, and that my boobs and butt didn't sag.
However, there would be too much risk to walking around like that.
With our government cracking down on supernatural beings, I would probably be locked down, caged like an animal and tested for the purpose of finding out how they could achieve this ability to stop aging.
Although different supernatural creatures were captured for testing, they weren't the only ones the government captured.
Humans also go missing from time to time, and I don't want to become the next target in a scientific game played by psychotic people.
So, in order to keep myself from becoming their prey, I had to find a way to make myself seem 'normal'.
I hid my true features by slapping on thick layers of makeup to make it seem like I had slight beginning wrinkles and tight lines.
I even wore thick-rimmed glasses and tied my hair into a bun at the back of my head to make myself seem more mature.
All the clothes I wore and owned were always three sizes too big in order to keep myself hidden from prying eyes.
Essentially, I just wanted to make myself look as if I had aged more than in my high school years.
I only wanted to keep attention off of myself in any way that I could think of.
It has worked so far because no one noticed any oddities about me, and I was able to get my hands on the samples that I needed.
For the first six months working for the government, I dabbled with the otherworldly creatures' blood, including but not limited to vampires, witches, elementals, shifters, and werewolves.
None of which my DNA matched to.
At first, with my non-aging genes, I had thought myself to be some descendant of a vampire as they do not age and tend to look rather youthful no matter the centuries that they have lived.
I knew I wasn't but it didn't hurt to check.
Turns out, after several tests and experimentations later, I wasn't.
Bummer.
Then the process repeated over and over again.
To this day, I am still unable to find what it was that made me unable to age.
I felt as if I was literally suffocating while staring at creatures that were very much similar to me.
Not even a year of working at the facility, I decided to quit with my experimentation and the job in general.
But, good news, today is officially the last day of work for the government!
Hallelujah to that!
I knew that they would still be stalking me, trying to see if there was anything suspicious before finally letting me off the hook.
At least that's what I would like to think.
"What the hell was that?" my lab partner, Asuka Shinamoto, asked when a loud crash of some sorts startled us from continuing our work.
Before anyone could make a reply, the shrill sound of alarms started to blare.
Then, ear-shattering explosions sounded off as all four of us ducked with our hands over our heads.
The beakers and glass started shattering all around us and the building shook like an earthquake had hit the area.
